My favorite Spanish village on a Camino Aragon Variation

There is a little known and seldom used variation of the Camino Aragon (GR 65-3) which departs the (now) traditionally used route over the Pyrenees to Somport. This variation of the (GR65-3-3) departs northwesterly in the French village of Lescun. It is signed Chemin de Col du Pau with occasional GR65 markings, it utilizes old Roman roads over the spine of the Pyrenees at the Pass of Pau. This extremely ancient pilgrimage route predates the use of route over the Somport pass. After crossing over to the valley of the Veral river it joins the Camino Aragon just below the village of Berdun. Just before Berdun it passes through the tiny village of Binies and the Foz de Binies gorge. My favorite village in all of Spain.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Thank you for this post @Old Hillwalker very interesting. I’ve walked the Aragones via the Arles Way, so over the Col du Somport. But I wasn’t aware of this variation. We will be in the vicinity on the French side this spring, walking the Chemin du Piemont. I don’t think we will have the time available to take this variant, but it's good to know about it for the future. 🙏

I got a WhatsApp a little bit ago and also saw here on the forum that @Vacajoe posted that the pilgrim albergue in Canfranc Pueblo will be opening April 16.
