Hi -- I am starting to walk the Camino Portuguese on September 25 and have tentative plans on where to stay. I am walking the Central Route. I am choosing not to walk the Coastal because I live on the ocean so ocean walking is my daily walk. I am looking for something different. Also, I am planning on very short stages 17(!), and do not really want longer distances. I have various medical issues and this is what will work for me. ok (1) to Vilarinho. (2) to Rates) (3) to Barcelos (4) to Balugaes (5) to Ponte de Lima (6) to Rubiãs (7)to Puente de la Pedreira (8) to Tui (9) to O Pirinno (10) to Redondela (11) to Arcade (12) to Pontevedra (13) to A Portela-Barro (14) to Caldas de Reis (15)to Padron (16) to Faramello (17) to Santiago.
Would love suggestions on places to stay or alternatives with more interesting stops. Thanks for helping me.

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.

Will you be walking by yourself or with someone else?
Are you on stricter budget or can you choose private rooms too?

I was hoping I could help. The thread title says "CP Coastal" but from the text it looks like you are walking the Central Route. I walked the Coastal Route last September and will walk the Central Route this September.

Bom Caminho!

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

I made a mistake -- wonder how to move it? Meant CP Central! OK Fixed it (I hope)

I am walking alone. My plan is to mix it up with albergues and private rooms. Thanks!

In O Porriño this place has very good food which I have always enjoyed; they also offer rooms and you can reserve.

2 km from Balugaēs on the camino towards Ponte de Lima is the quite splendid Casa do Rio. Their private rooms are very comfortable and copious meals most delicious. Try is for a special treat. The overall ambiance is as lush as any pousada.
Here is their web--

Bom caminho and Buen camino!

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
A friend of mine was raving about Quinta de Cancela in Balugaes. She paid 35 € for a single room with breakfast.

I stayed in Ponte de Lima in Hotel In Lima but a fellow pilgrim stayed in the youth hostel and said it was lovely.

In Rubiaes I can highly recommend Albergue Ninho.

Caldas de Reis we shared a private room in Albergue O Cruceiro.
Very central and close to supermarket.

In Tui : Tuihostel, central but quiet.

Instead of Redondela or Arcade I would choose the albergue in Cesantes.

Enjoy your preparations.

Thanks Sabine!

I'd recommend a stop at Casa Fernanda in Lugar do Congo, between Barcelos and Ponte de Lima. She has 10 beds (all lowers) and provides excellent afternoon tapas, evening meal, and breakfast -- all donativo. Reservations are recommended; call Fernanda at 351 914 589 521 -- she speaks excellent English.
Bom Caminho!

it works, and lots to see in many of the places you will be staying at to keep you entertained assuming you arrive early. also, not much coast on any of the portuguese caminos once you pass the 100 km mark, galicia's southern coast is made up of estuaries.

good luck and buen camino!

If you do stay in Arcade, you would not be disappointed at the newest albergue - it's one of the nicest on any route and there is a good supermarket just down the hill if you want to cook in the fabulously kitted out kitchen. Alternatively there are great places to eat too!
A lot of people rave about Casa Fernanda, but it is not the end of the world if you don't stay there.
Your stages look very manageable.
