My Prayer Song "The Way"

Long before I ever thought of doing the Camino, I was studying the principles of St. Ignatius. His message of detachment from circumstances and gratitude for life's gifts affected me deeply. During that time, I wrote this prayer song. I hope it is appropriate to share with my Camino friends, because regardless of one's philosophical or religious beliefs, we all want to find our way.

Happy New Year everyone. Hope to see you on The Way during April/May 2016.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
That was VERY GOOD, but very tiny... Perhaps you could repost the actual words, in stanza form or those visually challenged among us? Folks could insert their own tune, if they cannot read music...I know I will.:eek: (I cannot carry a tune in a bucket)

It also makes sense chanted as a motivational prayer, while struggling up a muddy and slippery rock-strewn hill on a wet, windy day.;)

You are very talented indeed. Perhaps you could collaborate with William Garza (forum member). He writes beautiful descriptive poetry and prose about the Camino. Some of his material is prayer-like, and much of it would likely take well to being set to a tune. You can find him with a quick member search. He hails from Corpus Christi, TX.

Happy New Year!

I like the idea of sharing prayers spoken by pilgrims along the Camino. This is one of the prayers my wife and I recited each day:

Pilgrim Prayer

Guardian of my soul, guide me on my way this day.
Keep me safe from harm.
Deepen my relationship with you, your Earth, and all your family.
Strengthen your love within me that I may be a presence of your peace in our world.
Amen.

Thank you. You are very kind. I have written songs all my life, mostly for myself. But I love music, which is why i will bring my ukulele with me when i walk. So, since you asked, here are the words:

Oh Lord, take my hand. Will you lead me on this day?
Oh Lord, take my heart. Fill me full of love I pray.
Oh Lord, take my soul, and mold me like clay.
Oh Lord, take my all, and show me The Way.

That is GREAT! Thank you for sharing.

Now I can cut and paste it to a Note on my iPhone...done!

It will be there...always!

@t2andreo -- I assume you clicked on the thumbnail to enlarge the music? Anyway, thanks again for your compliment.

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
At the nightly Pilgrim Service in the small chapel at the cathedral in Santiago I wrote down the words to the Pilgrim Prayer Vigil as follows:

Pilgrim Prayer Vigil:
As well as Abraham did, you also felt the calling to leave your responsibilities, jobs, families, and cities and homes;
And responded to that call you prepared your backpacks and your walking sticks and began a way that would lead you to a final goal;
The Tomb of the Apostle Saint James.
