Planning stages of Portuguese Way
Greetings. My name is Frank and I live in the US. This late spring, I'm planning on doing the Portugese Way but will be doing it a bit unconventionally as I only have about 15-16 days.

I plan on biking from Lisbon to Fatima (for religious reasons) and then heading back to the trail toward Porto. Once in Porto, I plan to donate my bike and hoof it to Santiago.

This plan is a bit ambitious and won't leave much time for sightseeing but that's fine as my goal is not defined by how much I see but what I can do. I enjoy trying things that can be somewhat challenging and off the beaten path.

I'm Catholic and a pretty sorry one at that. Hopefully the camino will give me the spiritual lift I need.

I will posting questions on here and I thank you in advance. I welcome your input, comments, and advice.

Regards,
Frank

Welcome to walking the way Frank your journey may well be eventful but not necessarily what you had planned, therein lies a great adventure with your faith and your inner self. Buen Camino pilgrim:)

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Biking will do. I saw a lot of bikers on our caminho.
We walked alongside the roads many times and wore safetyvests to be seen .
Most Fatima walkers walk on the hardshoulders of the roads and wear sneakers and yellow safetyvests.
Portugese drivers are devils in their cars (they denie it if you ask them about :D) so take care.
From Lisbon I think you can be in Fátima in two or three days. It is about 130 kms. I drove it by car.
From Porto you can walk in about a fortnight to Santiago depending on your pace.

Bom caminho

Welcome Frank, I too wish you a Buen Camino or if you prefer Bon Caminho.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

hi frank..I, too, from USA,,,going to Fatima (bus) before my camino portuguese. We will stop in Santareme (eurachistist miracle) occurred here. In Fatima, visiting the cathedral and grounds, the houses of the children and to the sacred walk Valinhos, Last summer, I met a man on CP and he said Valinhos was his favorite place to go for peace and his faith. We will walk CP coastal in July. Heard there is another miraculous Mary site in Pontevedra, need to research that more. God Bless and Buen Camino.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.
