New albergue at caminho portugues

A selection of Camino Jewellery
Hey Pilgrims,

new hostel "Moinho Garcia" on the caminho portugues in Pinheiro da Bemposta, Oliveira de Azemeis, about 6 km after Albergeria Velha. An old watermill with six bed bunkbed, four bed bunkbed room and doublebed room, big garden, river, waterfalls and barbecue area. Thanks

Wow, this is terrific and it looks very lovely. (But then I am a sucker for old stone houses). This spot is south of Porto and if my quick calculations are correct, it's ideally located. Our forum guide lists Agueda to Albergueria a Velha as a stage, it's about 17 km. Then from Albergueria to Sao Joao da Madeira it's about 29. With an albergue in Bemposta, you can walk Agueda to Bemposta, 22.5 and Bemposta to Sao Joao, about 24. Much more even staging!

I remember when I walked through Bemposta, I took a little turnoff to go up into the "old town." It was quite lovely, and I wonder if this old house is up there as well.

Pilgrims from Lisbon take note! Would love to hear a report from any forum member who stays there. Two obvious questions -- price? Meals on site? Bom caminho, Laurie

Hi Laurie, the mill is about 1,5 km abroad the camino in the lower part of Pinheiro not the upper part. The bunkbed costs 12 euros the night. Meal possible for an extra fee...

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
We have heard of this from an earlier post. My notes say, "Its an old restored mill with river, waterfalls, large garden area, barbecue." I have it flagged for our upcoming mid-October Camino.

Do I need to bring my own pillow & pillow case for albergues?
Hi, Has anyone stayed in Armenteira recently? I’ve contacted Victor the Taxi to try and reserve a bunk at the Slbuergue de peregrinos. He told me to contact “ Albergue de San Ero de Armenteira”...
