Good luck Susi. It's a shame your Albergue was not opened last year and could have said Good day mate to you. Am from Adelaide...and hoping to do the Camino again. Your place looks lovely.

Hi and welcome to the forum @Susi Swain ! Have a look at the forum rules, they state "Lodging facilities can post one post describing their place in the "Lodging" forum within each Camino. No unnecessary "bumping" allowed" (replying to your own post to get more attention)."

So why not editing your first post and including a bit more info, like the link to your website and social media sites? This way we can find you faster ;-) Buen Albergue, SY

G'day Susi,

Well, this is a wonderful surprise if I'm guessing right, and even if not.

In March 2014 I trudged through Trabadelo, I think, with a young, slim Lithuanian blonde lady. I say this only because we walked together for about a day and you may or may not remember us. The weather was wet. We came across a wonderful and very welcome refreshment stall with all sorts of goodies, and you stamped my credential with "Casa Susannah". We had a good chat. You loved the small village life having grown up on the central coast of NSW. I was from Tuross Head, my closest huge metropolis being Moruya, which you knew well.

If you are the same lovely person, and even if someone else, love and best wishes in your venture.

Hi Susi, I'll keep it in mind when I return in a couple of years. There weren't too many Aussie accents last year, so it's always nice to have a slice of home when abroad. Good luck with your endeavours. Buen Camino.

PS Susie, I just found my missing diary. The village wasn't Trabadelo but Vilachia, and the lovely Australian lady with the wayside pilgrim stall with thermoses of coffee, fruit, and assorted goodies was born in Newcastle NSW and brought up in a small village near Lake Macquarie. After doing the Camino she had returned as a volunteer helper in one of the albergues and had settled into village life in Spain. Is this you?

As a Sydney Pilgrim I met Susi back in Feb when she was home for a short break. I also stayed with her on 1 June, took two English Pilgrims with me - they could not have been more impressed - both with Casa Susi; Susi's hospitality and the food we ate that evening. Trabadelo is a good half-way spot if you are trying to get away from the Brierley stages, especially with the climb up to La Faba & O'Cebreiro!

@Bogong, Asking a question of the OP puts them in an awkward position - if your question is answered, they are then boosting their post, no matter how innocent that might be in the circumstances. That clearly is not within the framework of the current forum rules as @SYates has already pointed out, with some hints on how the OP might address that. It seems to me that raising this in a Conversation would generally be a wiser option to pursue in this circumstance.

It is not considered bumping if Susi answers general questions on the thread, as long as she doesn't keep referring to her new business, in other words she can join in on the thread she started. She can also have name and contact details of her albergue in one of her signature lines.

A lot of Forum members stay in private accommodations, so the following is just a tip for them. A new albergue in Trabadelo is a welcome addition. I have run out of steam there a couple of times. I have eaten at El Puente Peregrino, and the hosts are very friendly. Though the price is modest, my budget generally permits only albergues. Still, I think that those who are looking for a private room will love this place (not in the winter, though; it is closed):

Hi Susi,

I will be back on the Camino Frances next year with my son and we will probably be staying in Trabadelo. My guide lists 4 Albergues there, a Municipal, a Parrochial and 2 Private. Is yours a new one, the 5th in the village, or have you taken over one of the existing ones?

See you next year,

Mike

I have liked you FB page so will follow you there as well as on this forum.

I have already walked the Camino Frances three times, and next year will be walking with my son to celebrate his 16th birthday. Despite his autism and learning disabilities, we do a lot of walking together and he has been wanting to do the Camino with me for quite some time.

We have 7 weeks to walk from SJPP to SdC then to Finisterre and Muxia, so will be taking it easy doing fairly short days. We should reach Trabadelo around the 12th of August, just walking that day from Cacabelos. No bookings, no phone, we will just go with the flow.

Hi Susi

Looks like you are all up and running ! When I met you the property was like a building site and you were obviously busy trying to finish the project off, but you still had time to offer me a cup of tea and a chat about your plans. This was May last year how quickly time flies!!

I loved the character of your property and it will definely be on my list of places to stay if I walked this route again.

Perhaps next year as I am walking Lisbon to Santiago this year

Hope it goes well.

For info. Found Casa Susi on Brierley's [2017 edition] page 227, stage 26. The albuergue is not found on Dintaman/Landis' [2017 edition], page 200, stage 25, so, I made pen/ink addition to my guide. Current plan is to drop by Casa Susi on about 23-25 October [leaving St Jean on about 27-28 September], using [one of the two] guides listed above. To all the caminantes, buena suerte, y que la luz de Dios alumbre su camino.

We have much information to share about the camino and the days leading up to your arrival in Santiago. We feel blessed each day to help the pilgrims on their journey
We are the only albergue in Trabadelo with direct river access for swimming in our garden.View attachment 34646View attachment 34650 View attachment 34648 View attachment 34649View attachment 34653 View attachment 34652
I have done no advertising just hoping that 'word of mouth' brings the right pilgrims to my door.
Hope you pop by to say hi and stay if i am in the right place for you

I really appreciate you assisting me with the Instagram link.
If you can think of any Apps or guides i could email that would also be highly appreciated :) I am a very good host but not the best at 'social media'!!
You might also want to contact the creators of the 'Buen Camino' app (similar to Wise Pilgrim) if you haven't already. Best of luck. :)

Dear @Susi Swain and other posters on this thread - some of Susie's responses to your words of praise have been deleted, simply so we cannot be accused of favouring one commercial operator over another by allowing the thread to be "bumped".

This is also an opportunity to remind people of Rule 6) Personal comments that are not of general interest should be done by using a Private Message/Conversation. If it's a private comment, then it's a private message.
