On my way up Rua San Clemente to my usual hangout, the Alameda, I noticed a new albergue so went in to say hello. The Spanish hospitalero, Manuel Jose, speaks good English and invited me for a look see.
It´s really rather nice. Single and double bunks, sleeps about 20 I would guess, fully equipped kitchen and top floor laundry with a stunning view of the cathedral while you wash your smalls. There is a fireplace and outside bar-b-que area and a nice little patio garden. Though not cheap at 21 euros it couldn´t be more central, is modern and bright, and a hell of a lot nicer than the - now commercial enterprise - Monasterio de Belvis, the old Seminario Menor which is run by a travel agency and costs 10 euros but the vending machines alone will run up your bill as will the internet. What you spend extra on the Mundo Albergue (San Clemente, 26) you will save by making your own pimientos de Padron!
A good place to "re-group".
Anyway, I just thought that forum members might like to know.
