I just have to share this one: Sea to Summit, a company based in my home town, Perth, Western Australia, is about to start selling a small, light trowel which you use to dig a hole when you have to go the the toilet when you're out walking the trail.

It's called .... wait for it ...

the iPood.

And if you think I'm joking, see their website

Trowel/car hole?

I did not find a use for it on the Camino as villages and public rest rooms were somewhat prevalent. Plus one spends each night in a minimum of an albergue with usually more than adequatet oilet facilities. On the seldom (perhaps?) need for it in the "bush" I'd opt for searching a stout stick to dig the hole, rather than lug along stuffed inside my pack for the the whole route such a single-use item. I would say that it is better left at home. It only perhaps be better suited for a long trek into a wilderness area. But, I use just a stick there, too or the tip of my hiking staff for digging out the 6" hole
