New to the Camino!

Hello everyone

My parents and I have, after much discussion, booked a short trip to start on our Camino journey. We are travelling next week, and unfortunately only have 3 days to walk. We are hoping to cover approx 50-60km, finishing in Santiago. We plan to start our walk around Leboreiro but have not booked our accommodation as yet.

I would really appreciate some advice on where is best to stay along the way, and any other tips and tricks from seasoned pilgrims would be a great help. I'd especially like any advice on the distance we're aiming to cover, and any particularly difficult stretches that we would come across along the way. We are nervously excited and hoping that this is the first of many trips to the Camino!

Assuming you are of average/normal fitness with no real health problems, there are no really difficult stretches on those stages.

Just for the record and to prepare you for it, to get the Compostela you will need to have walked at least the last 100km to Santiago, but then, it is not about a piece of paper ;-)

Thanks so much for your reply. We did know about the Compostela - we had hoped to cover the 100km but wouldn't manage that in 3 days and unfortunately we didn't have any more time to spend. Next time!!

As far as I know, @JohnnieWalker might correct me if I am wrong, you still can get a 'visitors certificate' in the Cathedral itself if you like it. Buen Camino, SY

There is a nice hotel near Lobreiro before Melide:

Starting there will not qualify for a compostela.

The 100km mark is just after Ferreiros after Sarria.

Half a kilometre before Leboreiro is Casa Somoza, right on the Camino. Nice place with new management. Good food too. ugliest 2 kms leaving Leboreiro, past the industrial estate. No worries, it gets better. I would them consider albergue at ribadiso da baixo jyst before Arzúa. And, avoid sleeping at Monte de Gizo.
