New train line from Madrid airport to town

I just saw on another forum that RENFE, the Spanish rail system, is opening a new Cercanias line, which will connect T4 to downtown via a new route. (Cercanias is the commuter system). Service begins on Sept. 23. Note that if you arrive in T1, T2, or T3, you'll have to get over to T4 to get this train, but that's not too complicated. This is fabulous news, especially since it gives you a quick and easy way to get to Chamartin train station.

Here are the details as posted on that forum:

These suburban trains will link the airport (terminal T4), Chamartín station, Nuevos Ministerios, Paseo del Prado (near Cibeles), Atocha station, Estación Sur de Autobuses and Intercambiador Príncipe Pío.
Train frequency will be 30 minutes. Ticket: € 1.35
This line from the airport DOESN'T stop at terminals T1, T2, T3.

Spain really does know how to "do" public transportation! Buen camino, Laurie

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hi, Peter, thanks for the news.

11 minutes from the airport to Chamartin train station is unbelievable. Most of the trains to
Camino points north leave from there, so it will make a lot of people's lives easier. Can't wait to try it! Buen camino, Laurie

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Great info. Thanks to all.

I was in Madrid last week and rode on the Cercanias a few times. What a great system. It might be worth mentioning that from the airport to Chamartin, Nuevos Ministerios, Recoletos (near Cibeles) or Atocha, it's all on the same line, C-1. But to get to Puerta del Sol, you will have to change, either at Chamartin or Nuevos Ministerios, onto either of the C-4 lines, which will have "Parla" as their destination.

Buen camino, Laurie
