New webcam on the Camino

There is a new webcam on the CRTVG site. It is at San Marcos and appears to show the road outside the TV facility before Monte do Gozo. It is the first webcam that I have found which actually shows pilgrims walking the trail (though I suppose the O Cebreiro webcam shows all the "lower trail" pilgrims passing in front of the albergue). Five minutes of watching at about 1430 Spanish time showed a steady stream of pilgrims, probably over 50.

There are twelve pilgrims on the screen at 1325 local time in the 100 meter stretch covered by the camera. All seem to have packs. If they arrive at the same place together, there WILL BE a line!

I has looking in at about 1.15 local time today and was amazed to see what looked like hundreds of young people walking towards the camera.

They looked as if they were walking in groups behind small banners or posters held up on top of poles . It appeared as if there was up to twenty people behind each poster/ banner , However there appeared to be no real gap between each group.

When I looked in at first the walkers were walking towards the camera and stretched off as far as the camera could see. At the same time there were more walkers with rucksacks on the other side of the road .I thought that it might have been a parish function but I think the walkers looked as if they were prepared for a much longer walk.

I started to count the banners and saw at least fifteen before I left the site for a few minutes, when I returned they were all gone.

Can anyone explain what I saw ?

Although most of the 12,000 kids participating in the PEJ were still on the way yesterday, the Compostela seethed since early morning with the groups that have anticipated their arrival. Among them, three hundred volunteers who will work in the coming days for such a human tide flowing smoothly squares, churches, halls and schools.

Although the official start of the pilgrimage will be today in the host Obradoiro Square , at six o'clock in the afternoon, and yesterday there was a dress rehearsal : a pilgrimage to the Cathedral , and a vigil presided by the archbishop, Archbishop Julián Barrio.

At Monte do Gozo, with 2400 young people from Madrid , the Colegio La Salle or the Company of Mary are some of the points where you stay most of the participants. But it will be necessary to use municipal sports centers , where about 1,500 people will stay as well as schools and colleges. In the Rosalía de Castro will sleep more than three hundred, another 450 in the pavilion and more than 200 universities in the Collegiate Church of Sar.

Two catering companies are responsible for feeding . Breakfast will be distributed at the place where they are housed and the lunch and dinner in Belvís and La Salle. To avoid endless queues they will receive the compostela in temporary offices .

Watching the web-cam for a few minutes, it's 8.25 AM, and the road seems thick with pilgrims.

Being in the US, I'm having to remind myself to check early in the day! Although the bridge lights at night in Pontevedre are pretty LOL!! :roll:

My quick check of the webcam showed a crtvG truck turning into the driveway shown in the webcam, so it is indeed the stretch of road next to the TV station facilities.

About half the walkers going by had backpacks.

Saturday did not set any record for the number of pilgrims, but the 1,780 would fill the "prison camp" at Monte do Gozo three times.

I think I keep trying too late! It's 1 pm here and there's nobody on the road there! They're all having a siesta or eating dinner! Or maybe they're in BED!
