Back In the 1960s the UK realised it could not afford to compete in the space RACE so made a puppet show called Thunderbirds instead.

The Thunderbirds were craft operated by International Rescue headed by a character called Jeff Tracy who had named his five sons after American astronauts so:

In a race: (Space Race)

Alan (Shephard) was the 2nd person in space but Alan Tracy flew Thunderbird No 3
Virgil (Grissom) was the 3rd person in space but Virgil Tracy piloted Thunderbird No 2
Scott (Carpenter) was 6th but Scott Tracy had Thunderbird No1
Gordon (Cooper) was 10th but Gordon Tracy had Thunderbird No 4
while John(Glenn) was the 5th person in space and controlled Thunderbird No 5

OK so far? Back in the 60s space travel was incredibly risky (nobody knows how many Russians died in unreported accidents) so to take off and return safely was quite an achievement. ALL of the spacecraft that carried the above 5 US astronauts had a Lucky 7 in their name:
Liberty Bell 7, Aurora 7 and Friendship 7
Easy really, wasn’t it?

And for a taste of what it was like Thunderbirds are GO! (Remember this was 1965!)
We are at 5000!

Teasing how to insert two quotes

I still find many posts funny too!
Hope I have it!
That is a big part of the joy of it!...keep up the silliness..the zaniness as has recently been described!...the point being that there is no defining point to it all!
Yes!

Thank you

Yes!

Thank you
Well done to you! Will try later!
Please excuse my use of quotes...it is from our great bard Bill Shakespeare! It is from his unpublished works done just after “the two gentleman of Verona”......”ye olde Italian Job”!!!

Maybe it's a phone thing? It works on my computer just fine - see?:
Quote several messages without replying, and then on the draft of your post, hit 'Insert quotes,' and what pops up is a review pane where you can delete or change the order of the quotes...

See the thingy up there that looks like a chain? It's to the right of the thingy that looks like a photo.
First you copy a web address.
Then you highlight a piece of your text that you want to link it to (like 'here,' or whatever...)
Click on that chain thingy and the text should show up in the bottom of 2 boxes that pop up. In the top one you paste the web address (the 'URL'). Then press the big blue insert button (in the bottom right-hand corner).
Hey presto.
Bob's your uncle.
Home and hosed.
Piece of cake.
Easy-peasy.
Child's play...
(And whatever other idioms you can think of to convey that it's really not that hard.;) )
"Thingy" - you work in IT don't you?

I'm a bit late but the Magna Carta posts have prompted me to tell you about one of my favorite stories; how a guy made $2.4 million off of a $4 buy for a picture frame. There was a picture within the frame of course. The frame fell apart and the picture was worthless but between the canvas and backing was one of the two dozen existing copies of the original printing of 500 copies of the U.S. Declaration of Independence sent out to the states after the declaration was made. This was later resold for $8 million. The story of that and a similar find is found at https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/declaration-of-financial-independence/

There was a case of a painter, Dutch I think, who had to prove he was forging paintings made in the style of the Masters to prevent being jailed. If he didn't he would have tried for selling national treasures to the Nazis during the occupation.

Sun's coming out. Off for a walk. Anybody care to join me?
If you'd asked earlier, I could have boarded plane at LAX, flown to your side of pond, taxied to your home, then gone a short walk with thee.

But, now my day is planned. Maybe next time.

well? I was lazy. Just chose pilgrim. Actually, tell the truth. Pilgrim was the most inclusive word I could think of. It is not just for the camino, nor for the forum but it is a way of being. do I live it? I try. srsly spkng.
We all try Kirkie...some harder than others!
Don’t worry...been called many names..some unrepeatable so might just leave it! :D:D:D

so, the toes? sounds like they are in form for walking. I will pass this time... hope it is brighter than here in Dublin right now.
Getting better day by day thank you. Weather was pleasant and sheltered from winds in the woods.

Made some new friends

Too bad my flight on 11th is to Glasgow! Going for a whirlwind visit to family. Would love sometime to have a Santiago meetup. but it is JUST (I know! Capitals not allowed!) as nice to think of others having the chance!

Enjoy Glasgow!

I just could not resist a Vueling offer...less than 100€ for both flights.
Seeing I still had some holiday time to take up.Not enough for a Camino but good enough for a citytrip.

I too already arranged my next travel to Spain in early January. Not for a Camino, I will be attending a two-week intensive Spanish course in the small town Nerja in southern Spain where the temperature will be like pleasant springtime –an escape from the cold winter here for a while. The course is five days a week and I will be staying some extra days so there will be good opportunities for day-hikes in the mountains of Parque Natural Sierras de Tejeda on the edge of the Sierra Nevada range. Something to look forward to and good prep for next Camino(?).

Nerja is quite a nice place - good market (at least in summer) and not too far from Granada - always worth a visit.
Enjoy!

SOME of us were out doing important stuff - like TWO hours of full on, hard rock ukulele! The club has restarted after the summer break and I've already got "a blister on my thumb" (actually do)

And others were cleaning out their wardrobe . Getting rid of worn out clothes and donating the good stuff.
Miserable weather with rain and heavy winds so nothing better to do.

A search found him again at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Han_van_Meegeren
The first and third paragraphs there say:

Henricus Antonius "Han" van Meegeren (Dutch pronunciation: [ɦɛnˈrikɵs ɑnˈtoːniɵs ˈɦɑn vɑn ˈmeːɣərə(n)]; 10 October 1889 – 30 December 1947) was a Dutch painter and portraitist and is considered to be one of the most ingenious art forgers of the 20th century.[1] Despite his life of crime, van Meegeren became a national hero after World War II when it was revealed that he had sold a forged painting to Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands.[2]

...

During World War II, wealthy Dutchmen wanted to prevent a sellout of Dutch art to Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party, and they avidly bought van Meegeren's forgeries, thinking them the work of the masters. Nevertheless, a false "Vermeer" ended up in the possession of Göring, who had traded 137 other paintings for it, and it became one of his most prized possessions.[4] Following the war, the forgery was discovered in Göring's possession and van Meegeren was arrested on 29 May 1945 as a collaborator, as officials believed that he had sold real Dutch cultural property to the Nazis. This would have been an act of treason carrying the death penalty, so van Meegeren confessed to the less serious charge of forgery. He was convicted on falsification and fraud charges on 12 November 1947, after a brief but highly publicised trial, and was sentenced to a modest punishment of one year in prison.[5] He did not serve out his sentence, however; he died 30 December 1947 in the Valerius Clinic in Amsterdam, after two heart attacks.[6]

Yeah. Right. That's the funniest thing I've read in ages. If only you knew, Jeff, how hopeless I am at IT. Hence 'thingy':D:D:D (And yes, I did know you were being facetious...)
And I’m fitting a kitchen at home!....
Think I’ve found Arthur!
Don't be silly. If you're fitting a kitchen, BB, you'll need a plumber, not Arthur. Unless Arthur is a plumber.
Hope it was yummy.
Sin carne = a sin!
I'm in real trouble if that's the case.;)
As if I weren't already.

While you were all busy I was asleep. Over here it is a lovely morning and I am soon headed out for a walk. Anyone?

And he’s doing a better job than me!!!
I’m only extending a kitchen VNwalking...nothing as complicated as it sounds!
