November-December CF

Hi - I'm walking the November - December, the CF. Can anyone tell me about how many pilgrims on average start in November. Someone told me on average about 100 pilgrims enter Santiago de Compostela a day in November. Does this sound about right? So perhaps I will see more people walking than I expected?
Any and all info on walking in November/December is greatly appreciated. I am relatively new to this site and trying to find my way around looking at info.

Pilgrims starting the Frances in St Jean will take a good month, give or take, to make the journey. Pilgrims arriving in November all left in October, or are walking a shorter route. If you are leaving in November from St Jean, you will arrive in December, and arrivals there are from all routes combined.

I never walked that time of year but it will be rainy and cool on the Frances with snow possible at the higher elevations. Many of the Albergues will be closed, so check carefully which ones are open when planning your route. I expect there will be other pilgrims, but not 100 per day.

When walking in late autumn/winter only in larger places such as Roncevalles, Logrono and Santo Domingo de la Calzada and, of course, Santiago have I ever seen a cluster of more than 20 pilgrims at one time. It is easy to walk alone and in smaller albergues you might be the only pilgrim.

Most of us who walk in late autumn and winter wear and carry lightweight but warm layers which can easily be added or removed while walking. Each pilgrim develops a favorite combo. Scan the Forum's Equipment topic to see a multitude of varied approaches. Here's mine

It is a great time to walk but you must be prepared.

Last year, on average, 213 arrived in Santiago in November each day, and 91 in December. December arrivals probably started in November, and a quarter of them started at Sarria, 12.5% in SJPdP.

Ah, Thank you! Your site is very informative. My biggest worry is do I have the right clothing and your list is very helpful. Thank you again for this very valuable information.

I will be starting around November 8 in SJPDP and hope to arrive in SDC by December 12ish.

In December there will be days when you will not see any pilgrims.
