Nuremberg/Nürnberg Jakobsweg/Pilgerweg

futurefjp

Camino enthusiast.
Time of past OR future Camino
2013
I'm flying to Nuremberg on the 2nd May and setting off on the 3rd, for around 4 weeks on the Camino, from there. I am guessing I am aiming for Einsiedeln in that time. I wondered if any fellow pilgrim had a more recent list of possible Pilgerherberge from there. My German is limited ... I've looked at a few websites and I think the lists are from 2014?

The path is the destination.

I think I found the same lists from 2014, and double-checked what the CSJ in the UK had to say about accommodations: "No infrastructure of pilgrim-only accommodation at present so pilgrims on a budget will find this route a rather expensive one. 2 or 3 campsites, 4 youth hostels, otherwise plenty of medium-priced facilities (Gasthäuser, etc.) at convenient intervals along the way, as well as places for food and drink."

EDIT: This is more recent: november 2017:

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Here's every thing you need to know about walking the Jakobsweg (Camino de Santiago) in Switzerland (recommended stages, discriptions, accomodation lists, GPX tracks, etc.). There is an English translation for most things on this site. Everything here is pretty much up to date. https://www.jakobsweg.ch/en/eu/ch/

Here's your track from Nuremberg to Konstanz in Germany. http://www.jakobswege-europa.de/wege/nuernberg-konstanz.htm
This site is only in German. I don't know this site well, but perhaps you can find an accomodation list somewhere on this site.

Hope this helps.

Ultreïa!!

This is brilliant ... thank you!!!

Onwards!!!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
And by the way: I've (driven by car, mind you) slowly traveled from Würzburg, Germany towards Austria on the so-called 'Romantische Straße', which you will cross at some point. I can honestly say that you will be in for a treat. Guten Weg!

Have a look here: http://www.jakobus-franken.de/pilgerwege/franken-und-sueddeutschland.html
Most information on these Jakobswege in southern Germany is from 2016 or 2017, including some accomodation info. You are also invited to our German Pilgerforum as there are quite some people who know these tracks or even live nearby. Don't hesitate to write in English.

For your arrival, you can find a list of pilgrim's accomodations in Nuremberg here.

It sounds like you want to pass through Switzerland, because you mention Einsiedeln. Quite some pilgrims who start in Germany avoid it, because of higher accomodation costs (and higher mountains) than in France. You could go around by walking Strassburg-Le Puy, if you like.

Nuremberg ... 4 weeks on the Camino...aiming for Einsiedeln
Perfect plan! I walked the same route, blogged the daily details at https://kitsambler.wordpress.com Lovely trip; small towns, forests, farm lands. Stayed at Gasthause mostly, for which there was no competition in the late May - early June timeframe I walked. Beware Konstanz, which has Swiss prices eventhough it's in Germany using Euros. Nice hostels across from the rail stations in Nuremburg and Konstanz. The accommodation listings for the Swiss route are quite useful; many hiker lodgings available at decent prices.

Hi @futurefjp - I am planning to walk some of the same route as you this summer. Coming from Prague, I will connect with your route in Ulm. Our routes will overlap from Ulm to Einsiedeln.

I have the following two guidebooks which I am madly perusing:
Jakobsweg-Ulm to Konstanz (yellow).jpgJakobsweg-Schweiz (red).jpg
Thank you @Purky, @HaraldS, @pitztop for the helpful links.
I plan to use the accommodation lists found here (Konstanz-Einsieldeln).

I have just finished reading a blog here by @gittiharre about her Via Jakobi.
She also mentions the high costs in Switzerland (and that was in 2013!).

Do you have plans to write about your camino @futurefjp?
I would love to read of your journey.
Keep us posted.
Gutenweg, bon chemin, y buen camino.

Shall see about writing a blog. My mind's a bit mixed up currently so haven't managed writing for a while!

Also, see @Kitsambler blog here for the direct link to her 2013 Jakobsweg, Nuremberg to Einsedeln.

Please post any new findings on your route.
Happy planning. :)

Hi @HaraldS, have you walked the Strassburg-Le Puy route? Is the way well marked, with accommodations?

Hi @pitztop, I appreciate your input.

Hi @HaraldS, have you walked the Strassburg-Le Puy route? Is the way well marked, with accommodations?

I came down from Trier to Dijon to Le Puy. The Trier-Le Puy and the Strassburg-Le Puy routes merge at the Clos de Vougeot, right north of Nuit Saint Georges. So I do know the Strassburg-Le Puy route only from there on where I joined it.

It is well marked, no problems. For up-to-date accomodation info, you would have to get the guide by the local St.James' Association of Burgundy: http://www.st-jacques-bourgogne.org/le-guide/

Got a week February 9th - 16th to do some Jakobsweg ... other plans on hold as my mother has had a bad accident prior to Christmas ...
