2024?
I know I'm going to smack myself in the head when I find out 🤦‍♀️... but what does 'OP' stand for when referring to someone in a post? I gather the P is for pilgrim but what does the 'O' stand for? Is it 'Other' maybe?
Yes...I'm the person who always has to have 'text speak' explained to her... 🤭 YCLIU 😁

Up until just a bit ago, I STILL had to look up the meanings to IIRC and YMMV! ("If I recall correctly" and "Your mileage may vary"!)

Others also use IMHO quite frequently around here, which means "In my honest opinion" :).

Any other questions to clarify, just ask! :)

I have a cousin who stretches me in this department...the list of these acronyms is endless! At least the trail names are easy. I always thought IMHO was In My Humble Opinion so thanks for clarifying that one Faith. 😊

@kazrobbo

(Whispers) what is YCLIU???

I barely cope with TLAs (three letter acronyms), let alone those with 4,5,6,7 (ad infinitum) letters ....
Perhaps YCLIU!...You Could Look It Up 😂
Like I said, I have a cousin who knows I'm AC (Acronymically Challenged...I just made that up... 😜 ) & insists on peppering her texts with them so I'm constantly referring to text speak lists 🤪

Do you know, I did look it up ... apparently it means a true Catholic ... as in Pope Francis is YCLIU.
😳

But what’s:

OTT FFS?
(hint - it involves no ‘bad language’ 😉)
OTT is usually “over the top” but for this group if could mean “on the trail”. Can’t figure out the non bad word version for FFS ?

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Oops, sorry!
I’d meant to remove it. It was intended for @kazrobbo ... extra material, with which to flummox her tormentor 😉😄
I’ve PM’d her ... as I should have done in the first place ... my bad 🤭

It comes from an experiment used to illustrate how we tend to look for answers where we expect to find them.

It’s a sequence ....

OTT, FFS, ???, ??? ad infinitum ... literally! (big clue 😉)

They’re not TLAs

If you key them into Goggle (sic) it may come up with the answer ... I’ve never looked it up ...

Thanks for the PM & the answer Chinacat.
I won't reveal it here giving others the chance to solve it but it really does demonstrate how rigid in ways of thinking our brain can be. Also our line of thought on the 2nd grouping (FFS) is a sign of the times 😮 😇
I will definitely be hitting my cousin with it at the 1st opportunity...even if I have to create that opportunity!
Thanks again, this one is a gem.

Your choice of course Chinacat, but don't remove your post. Lots of people like a puzzle (I do...although yours defeated me!) & we all like a challenge (we're long distance walkers afterall). Your conundrum is an excellent demo of TOTB 😄 Thinking Outside The Box...a good brain re-trainer! 😊
