Hi. I’m starting from Seville on Wednesday 15 September. Because of uncertainty as to what is open or not I have made a number of reservations along the way. I was booked into Casa Concha for 17th but they cancelled because of building works. Now booked into El Romeral. All the best. Michael

I'm in casa Concha ringt now. God place. The day from Castillblanco de Los arroyos to Almaden is really one of the tuffest days.

And that toughest stage for you fell on this super hot day! Is there water halfway the stage in Fuente del Peregrino near the ranger station? I would hate to carry water for entire 28-29 km if you can refill there.

By the way, this stage felt like a breeze when I did it in February a few years ago. It is the heat that makes this stage a killer. Unfortunately sometimes in a literal sense. Stayed in Casa Concha and liked it, it's good deal when you share a double room with a friend. On Tuesday I will aim at Casa del Reloj since I am alone for now.

But do you mean you didn't see the tap with water? Or you found the tap but there was no water in it?
Good you survived the last climb! You probably saw a memorial to a pilgrim who ran out of water and stayed there forever

Good to have up to date information on the albergue situation in Aljucén. Looks like the private Albergue Río Aljucén is permanently closed.

The place you are in @Roger Hogstrom, is what used to be the municipal albergue run by Annalena. Gronze now lists it as privately owned, so I am wondering if the government sold it. No need to go into all the albergue wars in Aljucén, but it looks like there were a couple of losers.

From Aljucén, the absolutely lovely detour to Santa Lucía del Trampal adds a few kms onto what would otherwise be a short day into Alcuéscar or a longer day into Aldea del Cano. Just in case anyone is tempted, here’s a great thread on that topic. GPS tracks highly recommended, not because it’s remote or dangerour, but because there are tons of little paths that criss cross and might otherwise throw you off.

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

Please do it for those of us who can't. ;)
And if you go please can you post a photo orctwo here. Not all of us are on Instagram. Gracias!

Here's info from that thread @peregrina2000 linked to; the wikiloc track's at the end of it.
On Sunday I got my second fix of lovely lovely lonely Santa Lucía del Trampal, deviating to visit it by turning right off the camino shortly before Alcuéscar.

I left Aljucén at dawn, with Jupiter trying to get amorous with Venus in the gathering light. The detour, about 4 hours later, was very pleasant, going up into sweet smelling pine and oak groves with views back to Mérida and on (I think) to Montánchez. I had the church to myself for almost an hour before 2pm closing, also enjoying a couple of delicious bitter tangerines the guard suggested I eat. The simple beauty of the structure, the breathtaking beauty of its surroundings, the rarity of the Visigothic churches that survived the conquista, and the mysterious feeling places get which have been sacred for centuries (and it was a religious site before the Romans arrived). Then, at chucking out time, an hour on to Alcuéscar, a decent lunch, and well earned siesta in the albergue (where the six of us each got our own cell to ourselves). Oh, and perfect walking weather - not a cloud, not a breath, and max temperature of perhaps 20c or a tiny bit more.

I've had some good days on the camino, but that was up there with the best.

This is my wikiloc trail of the detour:

It sounds steady, Roger, and pretty low key. Great to know. Thanks for posting - good info for those behind you, good vibes for the rest of us.
