I appreciate that but isn’t having a story behind the pictures a part of this thread? 🙂 The media it’s only pictures. I like reading and telling stories and seeing the picture/pictures that inspired the words. Don’t you?
Very much but, respectfully, the person who started the thread did name it ‘one day at a time, one photo at a time’. We are all here because we enjoy sharing and seeing/hearing others stories and I truly do look forward each day to another story from all contributors. I suspect this is going to last quite some time until the world is vaccinated so I am in no hurry to share all my photos or stories. Just my two cents worth...

Thanks for your two cents, I’m in no hurry either. I was just over zealous I suppose when I found a place where those who contribute really understand what a Camino means. Or perhaps inspire those who don’t. 😌

Your contributions will most certainly not only understood but valued! We are a special group because of the parts that make us up!

Hi @FourSeasons
This link to the original post in the original thread might help you to understand the context for this wonderful thread started by @VNwalking at the beginning of May last year.

There are members who post regularly and a member new to the thread ( which is so wonderful! ) may not understand the original intention. The thread gets very long quickly, so to make it more easily accessible, it has been closed and re-started 4 times already!

It's true that sometimes one of us will "sneak in" another photo or two but in the past it's usually been because the extra image directly references the first photo and helps fill out the story or caption. Or at least that's why I have a few times :D In general though most keep to the "one-day-at-a-time-one-photo-at-a-time" intention.

I really hope you'll continue to post - you have already posted some beautiful photos!

Don’t you?
Yes! Absolutely. And yours are wonderful.

At the same time, one photo can tell a very big story — that's part of the fun. Edit: Thanks, @Theatregal , for describing the context that I was too lazy to dig up. 🙏☺️

As the thread title says, One Day at a Time, One Photo at a Time. It's true, people occasionally post two or three, but not as a regular thing.

Sabine spoke about the albergue at Beasain on the Vasco, and here is Luis signing us in. The albergue was so special, in no small part because of he and his wife, who offered the most wonderful hospitality. I always love the signing in process, with the ritual of getting the stamp in your credential.

Caminho Portugues- May, 2016 Padron to Santiago, our last day! We were delighted to see black swans in the Alameda Park as we entered Santiago. A reminder of Australia on our last day! But also sad to be finished this Camino. We had a great days walk, walking with a Dutch couple for most of the way, whom we had met in Caldas de Reis, a few days before.

Remembering to look back was one thing.

Remembering to look down was just as important, in order not to interrupt local industry.

I recall being intrigued by the two separate species of ant that seemed to live alongside each other in peace - one larger than British ants, and one a little smaller.

Are there more than two species of ant in Spain?

Continuing our wonderful sharing on a new thread. (Haha, please don't feel shy to post here again today even if you already posted in the other thread! And don't worry about repeating yourself — none of us are the same people we were 6 months ago nor do we have the same eyes.)

Today's choice is inspired by @JohnLloyd's shadowplay yesterday:

Sorry, I don't think we can help this time. Have had a look through our photos and do not recognise this church. Have you any idea where it is near? You walked from Porto? Did you walk the interior route or coastal route? We walked the interior way through Vilarinho, Barcelos, Ponte de Lima, Rubiaes and Tui, then onto Santiago through Pontevedra.

No worries. It was the interior. Certainly after Vila do Conde and before Ponte de Lima. Mental note to self : write more down when walking!
Cheers for the help!

EDIT : It actaully might be in Ponte de Lima self afterall if I look at the order of all my pics.

Yes ! The main church ! https://www.feriasemportugal.com/igreja-matriz-de-ponte-de-lima

@Anne&Pat how lovely. I was there on May 4, 2016. At first I grumbled at the fact they moved the pilgrims office. You know, tradition. However it made me explore places I hadn’t been before and The Church of San Francisco was a real treat. Reading the names of the Saints made memories rush over me of my Southern California life. A truly beautiful place, SoCal and the church 😉

Please tell me more about this Sanabres you speak of. So beautiful 🤩

Until @Theatregal returns here you can take a look at these links of the Sanabrès. On my every growing Camino list.

On the Via de la Plata basically after Granja de Moruela there is a split. One route goes to Astorga and then continues on the Francès , other Camino goes via Puebla de Sanabria via Ourense to SdC : the Sanabrès route.

On the left, the Iglesia Señora da Agualada and in the middle, one of the hamlet's 81 residents. At the time I didn't know the name of the church - there wasn't any info, but spent some time looking at the inscriptions and carvings on the exterior. I came across this photo in my files this morning as I was choosing a photo today. Did a bit of research online. Historically, it's an important place on the camino.

Amazing 🤩 and the little elderly lady, oh so precious. I marveled how the elderly would dress up and walk near or far to make the mass. Love it!

What memories that photo evokes. We remember standing in the queue waiting to get in on a very hot day and making camino friends with the other folks in the queue. We actually had dinner with a young man from England that evening who was standing behind us, who had run 50 kms that day, with a tiny backpack!

I think I'll do a horse series, an O Ceibrero horse series, shorter than my tractor series.

I was seriously thinking about taking the alternate way up O Ceibrero, meaning going up by horse. I guess I wanted to do as much by foot as possible though. At any rate seeing these horses somewhere before the climb made me very conflicted.

This is one of my luckiest shots ever. Believe it or not, the only editing done was cropping.

I remember reading somewhere that you gain 8km of height on the Francés route from St-Jean to Santiago, only to give it all back along the way.

The Camino is a metaphor for life - lots of ups and downs.

O Ceibrero horses, part 2 of 3

On the way up we saw a horse coming down, riderless and alone. I had enough time to get the camera out and get this picture.
Q24800-HOR.jpg
One picture wasn't enough. Another could be better. I pressed the shutter button and waited for the click and I got the picture that was most memorable.
Q24900-HOR.jpg
Man, that camera was s_l_o_w. 😆 And, less than a second after the camera's click, I was pushed off the trail.
That picture is hiding under the spoiler button.
