In six hours time, I will wake up to receive the keys to my new apartment. It will at the same time be a year since I stopped at the bridge that divides France and Spain, Hendaye and Irun, ate my first cold breakfast on the Camino, cried at my own silliness for embarking on such a harebrained scheme, and then followed my first yellow arrows.

I cannot believe it has already been a whole year. I still miss it every day. I walked into Santiago on the 17th of August 2017, and yet I know that my Camino is not over because I still constantly want to go back. I've walked in Germany, and it's not the same. I can't wait to be back in Spain and I'm hoping it won't be too long...

I just needed to share that with some people who will understand. It's been a year. 365 days. I am forever changed. And I miss being an active peregrina.

If you are excited, nervous, nostalgic, frustrated... please know this: The Camino is a gift. The Camino is worth it. All of it; any of it.

Nicky, Congrats on the new apt. Funny, I limped into Santiago the same day last year from the C. Portugues. I felt the same way starting and ending and I still think about it. It’s like I left a part of me on the Camino. I will be back for the Holy Year in 2021, walking a hybrid route of CF to Leon, north to Oviedo via C del Salvador, then the Primitivo to SdC. Buen Camino

I feel the call of the Camino every day. In the beginning of September it will be a year since I began as well and I yearn so much to go back. It’s hard to save up money when you have a new apartment, but stay strong; you’ll get back! I’m hoping to go back in December and if that isn’t possible September 2019.

I still miss it every day. I walked into Santiago (...), and yet I know that my Camino is not over because I still constantly want to go back.
