Only 2-3 days of walk. Shoes or boots? early May 2016

After how many days you start to feel/or not your feet? am I going to be ok to walk in shoes if is only for 2-3 days? it will be close to Compostela. Thank you.

Welcome Nicole! 2-3 days isn't too long or far but if you are walking in the winter and there is freezing rain or snow, shoes would likely not be a good choice. However if you're between Apr - Sep then you may get a little wet but having a few pairs of good trekking socks will probably work just fine for you, especially if the shoes happen to be waterproof. You can protect yourself even a little more by considering Gators to help keep the water and mud out. Enjoy your time on the Camino!

The last two or three days walking into Santiago is all on good, well graded walking tracks - and boots are absolutely not necessary. Just wear a comfortable pair of shoes; whatever you would wear at home walking. If it rains, and it does frequently in Galicia, then your shoes will get wet (one of the reasons I wear sandals) so take at least a few pairs of socks to change into. Stuffing your shoes with newspaper overnight helps to dry them.

Some do not wear leather shoes but instead prefer running shoes with mesh uppers - these "walk dry" very quickly. Waterproof shoes are an option but are not recommended in summer when they get very hot and cause blisters.

I've never warn boots for any of my walks - your feet may vary...

I generally find that after four or five days my feet have grown, so I have "normal" shoes and Camino shoes - same brand, two sizes.
