Time of past OR future Camino
CF May 2018
Hey guys!

Walking my first Camino in early May, will be taking my time allowing for exploring and stops along the way.

I’m interested to know if there are many opportunities along the CF to swim/refresh, on the daily walks. I live and breathe the ocean, and it’s something I’m definitely going to miss, so I’m looking for alternatives!

Do you see people having a break next to rivers or streams, or am I completely out of my mind?

Thanks in advance!

Tom

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

€60,-
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
I noticed last year what seemed to be a significant increase in the number of pools at albergues on the CF, so might be worth checking for the latest info. Though it has to be said a lot of them will make it abundantly clear from about 10km out.

Beware of jumping into refreshing looking water at this time of year, a lot of it is melt water and might be more "refreshing" than you might want ;).

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

I’ve swum along the Way at Albergue Cuatro Cantones in Belorado, Hotel Paris and Hotel Q!H in Leon and the spa hotel in Astorga , Also at Casa Barbadelo and at the hot springs in Ourense en route to Madrid (seriously worth an overnight! stop!).
I paddled in the tiny pool at Albergue Pats de Oca in Torres del Rio once too...
The pool at the “resort” Albergue in El Acebo was being painted when I was there last year; I hope it’ll be operational in mid October when I stay there again.
There’s also a small pool at the Albergue in Urdaniz, 400m off Camino between Zubiri and Larrasoana, which I’ll be testing in early October.
There’s also a water spa in Santiago, and the river “pool” at Molinaseca.
And the river runs through the garden at (Albergue) Casa Susi in Trabadelo...don’t know if it’s swimsble, but definitely good for wading ...
I never Camino without my bathers.
(And you can wear them with a Turkish towelskirt whilst washing all your other clothes...)
