Camino Portuguese (Aug 2018)
Hello! Looking for some help. Just finished my Camino from Porto to Finestere. I am currently in Finestere now leaving back to Santiago tomorrow.

My flight was from the US (Washington DC) to Lisbon and then took a train to Porto to start my Camino. My return flight is from Lisbon on the 27th.

I’m trying to get home sooner. I loved my time on the Camino but am missing my daughter. Would like to get home as soon as possible and with my connectivity being limited here was hoping someone here could help me figure out a quicker (without breaking the bank) way back to Washington DC instead of my 27th flight from Lisbon.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Expect to pay through the nose!
Falcon 269 isn't kidding. Cheapest route seems to be via Madrid, rather than Lisbon. (Train from Santiago de Compostella.) A direct flight with United is currently $2497. Cheapest flight overall is via Dusseldorf and Keflavik (Iceland) at $732 with a combination of Air Europa, WOW Air and Icelandair. Bet it's a nightmare to book, too.

Other posters may have better ideas.

Have you called the airline you booked with? Does your ticket allow a change and what would the cost be for that ticket. You want to return to USA when many are returning home before Labor Day. Expect hefty fares. That said, take a look at
onetravel.com. They are offering seats from ACoruna sooner than 27th for under $650. The connections may not be ideal, however.

If returning home is not an emergency, you might be better off laying low and returning from Lisbon....maybe touring or hiking another part of Spain or Portugal..... Good luck and let us know how you make out! Hope you had a great Camino!

Thank you all. A tourist here was nice enough to let me use their computer here in Finestere and was able to figure it out. Santiago to Paris tomorrow night...a 20 hour layover in Paris before continuing on stateside for under $700 US. My original flight wanted $500 to change plus the difference in fare and I'd have to make it back to Lisbon.

So I think I got it figured out and can take my time with the bus from Finestere back to Santiago tomorrow.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
