Hello! I’m planning to start the CF on May 18. I attempted to make a reservation for Orisson months ago but was thwarted by technology. It appears that the refuge there is now full. I’ve read somewhere here that I could take a taxi back to SJPdP and then another taxi back to Orisson the next morning to pick up the trail. My question is how do I get the taxi in Orisson? Possible to call in the mountains? TIA

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
I was totally psyched out looking at the materials showing the topography for the first day...I did not think the first day all the way to Roncevalles was bad at all. In fact, it was my favorite day of the entire Camino. My point is that if you start at a decent time, you'll be able to make it all the way to Roncevalles without having to travel back to SJPP.

We went at a very leisurely pace and it was 8 hours. We did indeed stop at Orrison for quite awhile to have a sandwich and a beer and admire the beautiful views.

Buen Camino

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
With luck you may be able to stay just a short way further along at the newish Albergue Borda if you make a reservation. Reports to the forum rate it highly and say they respond quickly.

Express Bourricot offer a shuttle serve picking you up from the Virgin statue (approx: 11kms) taking you back to SJPP. They can then drop you back at the statue the next day so you can continue you walk to Roncesvalles. They have quotes me 35 Euro each way. The price drops with more people

Just make your reservation with Express Bourricot online by emailing them or book when you reach SJPP. They're very near the pilgrim office on the same side of the street.
