Pallas de Rei Taxi

Hi - does anyone know if there are taxis readily available in Pallas de Rei? Am planning on staying about 10km from Pallas de Rei and hoping to grab a cab after the walk from a Portomarin.

Also worth checking whether the place you plan to stay has a pickup service. A lot do that are a few km off the Camino. We stayed somewhere a few km from Palas de Rei and found out (after getting a taxi there!) that they would have collected us for no charge. But anyway, it's easy to call for a local taxi (or ask in a bar for someone to call - buy a drink first!).

Please remember that, being inside the Cathedral's mandate to walk the final 100 Km to qualify for a Compostela, if you ride in a taxi or bus as you explain above, you will have failed to meet this requirement...just sayin...

After Sarria, into Santiago, on the Camino Frances, if you desire a Compostela, you must walk. It is as simple as that.

This is about traveling to accommodation off the Camino and then back to where you left it. So it won't (shouldn't) mean walking any less of the Camino if you're careful to get dropped off exactly where you were picked up. Easier just to stay right on the Camino but when that stretch is very crowded there may sometimes be no choice, as was the case for us. A lot of people were having to do this when we walked, if they were unable to walk excessive extra distances or camp.

Thanks for the responses. Yes - plan is to get a taxi to accommodation then back to spot where we left Camino the next day. This is my second Camino but first for my wife so am being very careful to ensure she gets her Compostela.
