Hi there
Does anyone know if you can obtain your passport in Pamplona? And if you can, where from?
Also, can anyone recommend a good albergue in Pamplona?
Many thanks Liz

Re: Pilgrims Passport from Pamplona? Yes!

Hello Liz.
Yes you can obtain your pilgrims passport at three places in Pamplona. Either at our snuggly refuge "Casa Paderborn", or at the municipal refuge or in the office of the cathedral.

Hi Liz,
Casa Paderborn is a friendly albergue on the outskirts of the main park leading to the old entrance to the city.
There is also the new albergue in the renovated church of Jesus y Maria just around the corner from the Cathedral.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

Yes, Jochen, very nice Albergue.

I' ve stayed in the one that Sil shows in her photo and in the old one. The new one (the architect who adapted to an albergue is a pilgrim, too) it's very close to everything in Panplona. And you can take there your credentials, too.

Buen Camino,

Madrid, Spain.

Just a cautionary tale about trying to get the passport in the new central albergue though. (And Javier is right.... it has a wonderful position, very close to the Cathedral and right in the historical heart of the city.) When I was waiting at the desk there, an English speaking woman was trying to ask about getting a pilgrim passport. But the hospitalero on the desk at the time spoke only Spanish, and nobody around seemed to be able to translate. So she left without one.

Now in this case, I am not sure the English speaker was a genuine walker - she had no pack or anything with her, and may just have been a tourist looking for a cheaper place to stay. Perhaps if she had looked more like a pilgrim, a passport would have been produced more easily. But it might be helpful to have the Spanish 'credencial' phrase up your sleeve...
