Pecking from iphone as snores serenade me to sleep but I know several people are hours behind me and want to get the word out. Precious, beautiful Granon, Ventosa kind of experience right here in Pendueles, before Llanes. He knows the Camino well and has replicated our favorite Frances spots with his own personal touch. Gorgeous auberge, comfie blankets, communal dinner, breakfast, music wakes you... Wifi, laundry ( they do it) ... Apres dinner brought out liquor. Javiar is his name and he has built a wonderful oasis here. We spent hours on yhe coast before arriving visiting the several one if a kind spots kilometers away on coast.... Albergue Aves de Paso, Donativo!

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Javier's a great dude. For those who have walked the Primitivo, his albergue will remind you a great deal of Bodenaya, as he trained there and modeled his place after Alex's. He allows people to reserve spots now, so you can lock down a bed and then enjoy your walk!

Really enjoying your posts, SFS!

If you cannot get into Aves de Paso there are two double rooms at the Bar Castiellu, right on the Camino in Pendueles. We stayed there last year and were well looked after! Washing done for us, dried and ironed for free!!!

Blessings on your walking

I will let you know what I think tomorrow. So far so good. Just arrived in Penduelas after a long walk from Comillas. I would guess about 35+ km's. My feet are not happy with my decision. They have have hot showers and Javier will wash the clothes you wore today. Looking forward to dinner.

Joe

Joe,
If you get a chance let Javier know one of his nine took his advice and made it to Cuerres, Albergue Casa Belen where a spectacular married, retired couple are living out their dream by supplying an eight bed (two rooms four beds in each) auberge!!!!! Love them!!!!!! I got s little turned around as I evidently followed bike signs....but none the less landed on their doorstep and they welcomed me with open arms!
To my knowledge the rest of my crew stopped ahead of me, some motioning for me stop I think right after Pineres de Pria, SO thrilled I kept on!!!!

I think I added some kms to my day, sounds like I stayed on the coast as two hours went by and signs acted like I had only gone about 3kms BUT if you are on coast and if you see what looks lije a ruined building, arch is about the only thing remaining do take the moments....approach it and look off to your right.
my walking buddy did not seem interested in taking the ten minutes to absorb this spot, and all I can think of is how can one miss it if given the chance....
Buen Camino!
Suspect our paths will cross VERY soon!!!!!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
There is 3 albergues on various routes that I would walk again just so I could stay at them. Casa da Fernanda, Bodeneya and here, Casa Belen. Do they still have the Goose it was only a few weeks old when we stayed there and the French peregrina I was walking with would cradle it and sing songs to it,
There is a place opened in the last few weeks about 2 km outside of Villavicoasa, not sure if its before or after and I dont know much else about it other than a woman is inviting pilgrims to stay at her house/albergue on a donativo basis.

Ironed!!!!!!
Yes Al - ironed. We had to ask for the non-iron stuff to be just dried :)
The new Aves de Paso was only just opening and Javier showed us round. Lovely and very friendly so we hope that he and the bar Castiellu both have many pilgrims to stay this year.

Yes!!!
Have I think two geese, they were sad as she sat on several eggs for more than 30 days producing no babies....:(
If people get a chance to stay here You will be happy. This couple is wonderful! he is retired professor, great conversation and fluent in many languages. his wife is a delight! the biggest smile and true pilgrim spirit and love!
Casa Belen means Bethlehem they said....OH and they have a little chapel there that even if you just walk by them you might want to glance in there....precious!!!!

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Penduelas to Nueva around 32 km's. Walking along the coast here has been one of the most beautiful days of walking so far. I was very disappointed when my battery went dead on my camera. I considered walking to Querras on Javiar's recommendation but my feet said no. Very little road walking today.

Joe

I use Alltrails a lot here in the US, in Iceland, on the Via Podiensis and a bit on the CF. Will it be useful on the Norte? For example, people here say the "warm up" from Biarritz to Irun (or...
Last May I walked the first part of the Norte in the opposite direction, from Santander to Irun. Since I only had two weeks and couldn't reach Santiago anyway, I wanted to swim against the tide...
Tomorrow I fly to Bilbao to start my 5th stint on the Camino. I did the Frances in three parts (2016, 2017 and 2022). Last year I did the Portuguese from Porto. I did the first 200 km of the...
I thought I had this all figured out, but I have ended up with 2 train tickets from San Sebastian (I don't even know if it's the airport or the town) to Irun, instead of ONE that goes all the way...
