Photos and Weather

Thanks for this.

Looks like you had much nicer weather than we did when we walked over from SJPP to Pamplona at the end of June - which we did mostly in thick mist and rain. But then we had been walking in rain and mist since Le Puy at the beginning of May.

Could you give me some advice? I would like to do Stage 2 - Pamplona to Santiago next year and May/June seems like a good time for the weather in Spain. How did you find it in terms of both weather AND accommodation? France was really crowded in May and I have heard the Camino Frances is always crowded but is it better in May/June than later?

Hi Paul,

I also enjoyed looking at the photo diary your camino and concur that you certainly enjoyed better weather, especially during April 24 - May 26!

Thank you for sharing them!

Regards,

Mine are also online, just click the link below.

Re walking from Pamplona to Santiago in May/June.

Windy

Re walking from Pamplona to Santiago in May/June. I didn't have much trouble with accomadation. I couldn't get into the albrgue at Fromista. So I stayed in a b&b on the opposite side of the square from the albergue there. I also had a problem with albergue accomadation at Santo Domingo. So I booked into the excellent Hospederia Santa Teresita a modern hostel run by the Cistercian nuns. The only problem there was I couldn't book out until 7 a.m.
I used the John Brierly guide which was very popular with the other pilgrims. As a result, I mainly stopped at places other than the ones at the end of his stages. Oddly enough, it got easier as I got closer to Santiago. For the most part I did not worry about it. I left at around 6 each day and arrived mostly between 1 and 2.30. I always assumed that there would be some alternative accomadation and there always was. It is a lovely time of year to travel.

Lillian Rodriguez, thanks for leaving a message in my album guest book. I visited your site. Your pictures are terrific.

Thanks for some wonderful photos Paul: they are inspiring. I have written down your tip about Ruta Pradela, which you do a great job of "selling" with your photographs.

Great photos Paul. Someone on this forum I think Ivar has posted the english translation for the poem you asked about. Hope you find it. Cheers, Jane

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Thanks Paul for sharing the photos. Appreciated your time and trouble to put in the cryptic and descriptive titles on every photo and the dates. Would love to see more photos of the albergues you stayed in, and meals eaten in and on the road.

Great pictures Paul, thank you for sharing them.
Makes me want to go back...
...but I want to go back anyway.
I really enjoyed to photos.

Some wonderful photos, thanks for sharing. I was about 2 days ahead of you. I started with Jo in your picture 113. She was good fun. She came to grief somewhere before Ponferrada, and was evacuated. She is getting over some operations for her Achilles.
Thanks for refiring the memories,
Ashley

I looked at your pictures from SJPdP and I couldn't recognise any of the landmarks as... well... It's always been so misty!

Hopefully it'll be clear in a few weeks time, eh?! :)

Cracking photos though. Loved em.

ps. Translation to that poem has been emailed!
