For many years I've kept a memorial record of pilgrims who have died on the Camino. As far as possible, I have tried to include a photograph of a memorial erected by their loved ones. If you have any photographs of memorials in honour of the pilgrims who passed away on the Caminos, especially those in 2017 and 2018, please could you share them with me.

Hi,
Not sure just what this is. It’s on the Camino, to the left, just before O Cebreiro.
It seems to be older than the time frame you’re looking for, judging by the date in the 90s.
Good luck with your request.
All the best,
Paul

I have seen the memorial your family erected there a number of times Pia. Some stories I've read about the trail say that the stars in the Camino de las Estrella (Milky Way) are those who have ascended into heaven to watch over pilgrims as they make their way to Santiago.

You have Michael listed on your blog, and here is a picture of his memorial as seen in 2017. Thank you for your effort in this!

@jsalt Do we have verification that Peter Catlow died while on Camino? It seems like I've read that this is simply a memorial to a "fellow-caminoist" and not a memorial to one who passed while on Camino. I could be wrong, I'm just thinking there should be some verification, either way. Mike.

I don’t know. I posted the photo because the memorial sign was nailed to a tree beside the path in a fairly remote spot. Why nail the memorial to that particular tree? Maybe others can enlighten us.

Thanks for the photos and input on names missing from the memorials.
