News from the Via Francigena Association indicates they are trying to encourage more pilgrim specific accommodation on the route. I particularly liked this comment

The hostel managers, who have set up the network, want to achieve 100% pilgrim hospitality, ......

..... This is because a pilgrim who offers hospitality knows perfectly well what the traveller needs: they know their basic needs, both physical and emotional. Taking off one’s shoes, soaking one’s feet, and having a cool drink take priority over registration and stamping the pilgrim credential.

I stayed with Travis and Juliane in Capranica. They were wonderful hosts and the food was first class. They evwn took my backback to the next place for me. It is good to see more people are joining them as there is a shortage of affordable, friendly places on this route.
