Hi everyone,
The Pilgrim House welcome center opened today for the year, and the team would love to meet you and hear about your Camino after you get into Santiago. Some new resources have been added this year as well:

* Daily group Camino Debrief sessions at 4pm. Formerly we called these Pilgrim Meet-Ups, but we've shifted the focus to go deeper in helping pilgrims process and debrief their Camino, thus the name change. Important note: @SYates will still be holding the Forum Meet-Up for members of this forum. So if you'd like to attend that, please do! And come visit us another time during opening hours.

* Personal Camino debriefing sessions with a member of the staff.

* Guided reflective meditation in a group using Psalms as principal Scripture passages for reflection.

* If you felt the need for prayer after your Camino, we would be privileged to pray with and for you.

We've also significantly upgraded our back room and patio as places for solitude, reading, and journaling. We welcome you to take advantage of these quiet spaces if you need time away from the hustle and bustle of Santiago.

As always we provide laundry services, boarding pass printing, and daily backpack storage on a suggested-donation basis. These services need to be requested in person (so please do not send your pack to us by mail :)).

If you've visited before, you'll want to note that our hours have changed for this year due to managers being out of the country at different times of the year. So for 2018 our hours are:

Monday: 11am - 6pm
Tuesday: 11am - 6pm
Wednesday: Closed
Thursday: 11am - 6pm
Friday: 11am - 6pm
Saturday: 11am - 6pm
Sunday: Closed

The address is Rua Nova, 19, just a couple blocks behind the Cathedral.

To be clear Pilgrim House is a non-profit, non-commercial initiative.

Buen Camino if you're preparing to go out on the trail this year and perhaps we'll see you soon!
Faith

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hi Faith, in 2015 I and many others on this forum walked the camino carrying a shell for Denise, and we dropped the shell off at the Pilgrim House. What finally happened to all the shells? Is there a memorial made from them? Sorry if this question is inappropriate here; if so please move this post to the proper thread. Thanks!
Jill

Hi Jill, no worries!

Rebekah Scott took a number of them to the memorial tree planted in memory of Denise near Astorga. I believe there are some hanging on the branches as well as laying at the base of the tree.

As for the rest, we still have them at Pilgrim House and are holding them until further plans are made. I was also able to give a few to Cedric, Mrs. Thiem and some of Denise's friends at a couple different times in the past two years. Thanks for the reminder to keep you all posted - when plans are more concrete I'll update you again.

Looking forward to seeing you in August! Thank you for all your wonderful work for us...xxx

I dropped in on their first day of opening for the new season a couple of days ago. Great to meet Michael and Nate and to experience such a great venue and resource at the end of the Camino. The ambience of the whole place and the "Back Room" in particular is wonderful. Sort of adds to and rounds off that phase of the Camino experience in a very special way.

Hello Chris! Yes, they both really enjoyed meeting you and having you in. Thanks for taking the time to visit and talk!

Hi everyone,
Wanted to give another update on the shells for Denise: next week @Peter Fransiscus will be taking almost all of the shells to Denise's memorial tree in Astorga and laying them there. That seemed like the best place to bring them now that a permanent memorial (the tree and a memorial plaque) has been established.

Thank you, Peter!

Jenny & I popped in today and really enjoyed our ‘debrief’ and honest discussion.
I also enjoyed bumping into the guys later and sharing a beer
Keep up the good work

I'm so glad you stopped in and enjoyed your time, @Rich1 ! That's great to hear. And yeah, Bruce and John are hilarious - working with them has been a joy.

I'm not sure when you leave, but have a great rest of your time in Santiago!

Hi everyone,
Just a note that Pilgrim House is now closed for deep cleaning and other projects through the rest of the winter. We'll re-open on March 12, 2019. Have a wonderful start to 2019 and Buen Camino!
