hello, I am currently in Leon (started in Saint Jean Pied du Pont) and have discovered I have a foot problem. Can you please recommend medical facility or person. It appears that I have a problem with my tarsometatarsal joint (mid foot). I would like to get it looked at before continuing on. I can walk with pain but thought it would be best to have it checked before leaving Leon. We are staying next to Cathedral. Thank you for quick response.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Sorry to read. There is actually a city hospital (with 24 h ER although not needed in your case I think )next to cathedral.Next to the city wall, in the street of QH hotel.
Good luck.

Thank you for such quick response. It does not seem to be an "emergency" by American ER standards. I have pain and swelling in the mid-foot, arch area. I do not believe there was a specific injury, it might be tendinitis of the small joints that are mid-foot. Is ER appropriate for this type of situation?

Also, I have an ad here for FisioConde, Fisioterapia and Podologia; they seem to specialize in foot problems and speak English (I don't speak Spanish). Has anyone heard of them?

THANK YOU!!

No, do not think ER is advisable here. Just walk in tomorrow and go to reception ! Good luck.
No idea about FisioConde, sorry.

Doesn't sound like an ER middle of the night case to me ;-) (Usual disclaimers apply ;-) Just walk/hobble/limb in tomorrow morning and they will take care of you - All the best and Buen Camino, SY

I would ask for a quote of price before.

Hola @tabbyCat, also sorry to hear about your injury. Now as one who had a very similar injury back in 2013 my very strong advice is: Do Not Leave Leon without a full diagnosis of the injury. You still have 300 km to Santiago, some of it very rough, down hill and tough uphill. Walking on this injury, (imho) could do real permanent damage. Best of luck.

Last year I stayed for 4 days in Leon, my blisters needed daily treatment. I went to the Centro de salud in the Avenida Codesa de Sagasta. People and doctor were very friendly.
Hope you can continue your Camino in a satisfying g way!

many good, excellent, replies given on here.

For further use...when I have any medical issues (not immediate emergency), I go to local farmacia. Very helpful.

Not for your case, but for others... they will give on the spot advice what to take, do, or not do, for certain things.

If out of their league they know every hospital, clinic, specialist etc And will advise you where to go for additional help.

The farmacia in Pt De Lima was great! Got great help from them for leg muscle problem.

Indeed; pharmacies can offer much more than medecine!

Walking into Molinaseca early on a frosty Sunday morning November 2014 I met another woman pilgrim who was worried since she had run out of funds. Upon arrival in town all appeared closed as we searched high and low for either an ATM or for someone to ask; nada.

Luckily one pharmacy was open 7/7 and the multi lingual pharmacist directed us to the village ATM hidden on the elementary school facade! Her gentle kindness will be long remembered.

I recently (2weeks ago) went to the 'clinic' and was referred to Hospital Universitario de Leon for swift evaluation. My knees would require a specialist and the clinic doctor said there was a 2 month wait. My ER doctor was thorough, had X-rays done and can they've provided a translator... so ultimately I learned I was DONE with my first attempt at Camino Frances in Leon. Good Luck and take it easy. Buen Camino.

Hope by now you have had the help you need. I'll just put a good word in for Roberto at FisioConde - excellent English; correctly diagnosed that my problem was not lymphedema (as a prior physio in Sahagun told me, and treated as such) but a blood clot and sent me immediately to emergency!

I had terrible foot problems and visited a massage person there. He was amazing. it was on the way in. Located next to an apoteca. It was upstairs. The masseuse was kind and very knowledgeable. I will see if I can find his name.

Thank you to everyone for your help. I did go to the hospital next to the Cathedral in Leon at 730am. I was out by 815am for total cost of 110euros. Diagnosis was slight inflammation of the joints inmid foot. Was cleared to keep walking with foot wrapped. They did x-rays as well. All in all it was a great experience! And out my mind at ease! Thank you all for the advice!

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
