Pilgrimage from Valenca to Santiago de C. in Sep 19 - 25

A group of 18 pilgrims from Slovakia walked the Camino Portuguese in 6 days, using the services of albergues in Valenca, Porrino, Redondela, Pontevedra, Briallos, Padron, Santiago di C. (Seminario Menor).
There were enough beds for us in all the albergues and their services were great.
Advices: It is not necessary to carry mat + pillow on this route.
Take some dishes (cup + spoon), there is not enough of them at some places.
It is enough to carry 1 l of water, as the "fuentes" are more frequent than the maps show.
We had a wonderful weather for 5 days, walked full of joy, and prayed for all the pilgrims who helped us with their advices in this forum. Thank you Ivar for your work.
Some photos are included in the following link, without comments, as they are not necessary after Athena's perfect link.

Buen Caminho,

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

I am following the same route from valenca to santiago. I am walking next month in December 2008 and wanted to know do the alberges charge per nite or is money exchanged in donation. I only ask so that I bring enough money with me.
Thanks,
Shawn

Hi Shawn,
in September 2007, the fee in the albergue in Valenca (Portugal) was 5 E, all the albergues in Galicia asked for voluntary donation, the fee in Santiago di C. (Seminario Menor) was 5 E.
I returned back to Santiago in May 2008 with a friend of mine, we stayed in Santiago for 3 days to see the Cathedral and the museums and to walk simply around the city, as there was not time enough for doing sightseeing in September last year. Then we completed Camino Finisterre, 89 km in 3 days (Santiago - Negreira - Olveiroa - Finisterre). The fee in the albergues in Galicia is 3 E nowadays (it is not voluntary any more). We returned by bus to Santiago and we stayed for 1 night in Seminario Menor, and the fee was 9 E.

I am sorry the texts are in Slovak, as I did not intend to put the photos here.
Maybe you will like the idea to walk this Camino as well, it was really a great experience.
With my best wishes for you and all other pilgrims,
Olga
