Pilgrims leaving St Jean, Roncesvalles or Pamplona

Please note that the annual La Rioja Wine Harvest Festival commences in Logrono on Sept 17th and runs til Sept 24th. I can thoroughly recommend spending a day there.
As the council blurb says;
Logroño goes all out to celebrate the Rioja Wine Harvest Festival, known traditionally as the festivities of San Mateo.
The town is filled with colour and fun in a celebration where wine and grapes take centre stage. There are numerous activities on offer, including traditional foot-crushing of grapes and the offering of the first must to the Virgen de Valvanera. Bull-running with young bulls, parades of floats, music, popular meals for all comers and ball games are a few of the other options in this special festive programme.

Apart from the above there was wine tasting, street performers, parades, musicals (we saw 'Les Mis'), nightime fireworks over the river, even 'proper' bullfighting.
Really worth a day at least!

However, it appears that in your enthusiasm to let us know about this event, you have overlooked attributing the content. It is generally considered courteous when web content like this (http://www.spain.info/en/que-quieres/agenda/fiestas/rioja_la/fiestas_de_la_vendimia_riojana.html) has a copyright notice that the owner's intellectual property rights are acknowledged.

ps the festival dates are 17-24 Sep 16.

Indeed an initial mistake as the content was posted by mistake, Gerard's fat fingers, before it was completed.

Gerard there was a rather lengthy article about Logrono and the Rioja wines in Delta Airline's in-flight magazine Sky. It was well written with very descriptive photos. They titled it 'Drinking with Cowboys and Cavemen', a title I'm sure they knew would appeal to North Americans

Walked from Le Puy , went via Valcarlos to stay in a great Casa Rural.
Like wise in Burguette .
But Gerald on these two nights having a night cap we kept seeing the towns folks coming home in red and white .... from Pamplona.
Locals advised only to see Pamplona on the last day as all is booked out [ there are no albergues open during the festival] and its rowdy.
Got to the lovely hotel in "The Way" @ Akerreta [ Larrasoana] and propped therefore allowing us Sunday night in Pamplona .
Had a magnificent day with the food, drink , music and families in the streets.
But Cuz .....they don't go to sleep , they go all night.
Early start 6.30am , no sleep but in a good mood only to find the streets blocked .....the party still going.
Back to Hotel , they get a taxi , arrives in one minute but took 15 minutes to get us to the gardens near university and the road to Cizur Minor.

Not finished Cuz,
Belorado, another festival , great day had and also a wonderful evening with many pilgrims in the square .....but Pamplona was kids stuff compared to here.....the students decided to have their party outside our Pension window....why not....lovely secluded laneway.
They moved on with the trumpet and drums through different lane ways all night but always returned home to us.
I hear "The Sounds of Distant Drums "

After 7 weeks walking the bus the next morning was beautiful.
We enjoyed Burgos for 3 instead of one day before Madrid and flight home.
We loved it and i'm smiling whilst writing.

It's nice to hear you kept up the spirit and didn't get too much annoyed with fiestas.
In my opinion it's better to get along than to be mad at them

We walked into Logrono when the festival was in full swing.
In the centre of town, close to Cathedral, we came across Hostel Entresuenos which had plenty of really good accommodation available. Perhaps it not well known amongst the pilgrim community, and it is priced in the Private Albergue/Hostal range.

We were there yesterday and our Albergue didn't fill up until 4:00 pm. I had a great night in Logrono, my best yet on the Camino.
