Pilgrim's office of SJDPP

Monasp

I'm a manager of pilgrims office in SJPP
Camino(s) past & future
Camino in 2008.
Due to the numerous traffic restrictions in Spain (lockdown in Navarre, Rioja, cities: Burgos, Leon Ponferrada, and others to come...) and the closure of hostels in Spain, in addition to the closure of the Napoleon road on 1/11 (decree of the Government of Navarre) and above all the almost non-existence of pilgrims departing from SJDPP, the welcome office at 39 rue de la Citadelle will close its doors on Sunday 25 October 2020 at 9pm.
This will be the second time this year that this welcome office, the only one of its kind on the Way of St James, which is normally open all year round, will close its doors.
A huge thank you to all these welcoming people who have succeeded one another (several times for some of them) since the reopening on June 29th, at the risk of their health, despite all the precautions taken, with the concern of helping the pilgrims.
However, a telephone reception will be provided until the reopening (posted on the door) probably in March 2021, with the help of St Jacques...
Take care and see you soon.

Feel as if I had been punched in the guts! Its a few years since I visited but the thought of it closed is almost inconceivable! Take care of yourselves and a big thank you to all of you past and present for your work and welcome. Vaya con Dios.

Samarkand.

Is there a way to make a donation to this office? They were so very helpful to me in 2015. Thanks.

Thanks for all you and the staff do to welcome and inform those of us just starting our journey. I'll never forget how excited I was when I actually reached the SJPDP office. As I was given my credential (and a stern warning) by the volunteer about the weather on the high pass that day, it occurred to me that you all give that warning and guidance to the thousands of pilgrims that cross your threshold annually. Thanks seems like too small of a tribute, but it is heartfelt. We are now reduced to reliving the former Camino hikes, and, of course, planning the next one.
Stay safe and let us know if there is anything we can do to help when you re-open in 2021.

Muchas gracias!!
