Does anyone know what metal they put on the BOTTOM of those pilgrim walking sticks you buy along the Camino?

Does anyone have a good photo they could share? I'm trying to explain it to a friend, but can't find a photo.

A friend who made a walking stick for me used a carbide tip. Don't know if that helps.
 
Sheet metal (tin) from the hardware store. The staves are pretty basic.

My walking staff [a staff, not a stick] had the type of rubber stopper that you see on the bottom of a medical crutch. Made it very quiet. No annoying clicking!
