Im planning to walk as well, would be my first pilgrimage . Waiting for a friend to be able to travel from the states to join me , I live here in Lisbon .

Nice to hear. I did the full Camino Frances in 2019 and it was a great experience. I really hope the virus will be gone in October or at least on very low levels. I will not walk if you still need face mask and to keep distance all the time. The social part was such a big part of the Camino Frances and I would like that this time too. But covid situation looking good right now in Portugal I think? At least compared to Sweden .

I must say, strange to see all these plans for walking this year, us Aussies are stuck at home probably until some time next year, 2022. We don't have any covid in the community as I write (a few in quarantine), and the Govt wants to keep it that way by limiting travel.

That sounds wonderful! But I'd be worried that I would wear out my artificial knee if I tried to do that much at 1 time!

That sounds wonderful. I know that people would love to travel internationally, but having a (relatively) safe and healthy community is more important.

Warning that it may be brutally hot, and the first few days out of Lisboa you're walking in the farmfields of the delta of the Tejo, with very little shade. Plan accordingly, with perhaps shorter days that you would otherwise, and starting *very* early in the mornings.

Me too, I’m stuck. Plan was to do Portugues in 2020, now who knows ! Another year to wait according to our Australian Government. Doing walks in the NT and in October in South Australia so I’ll be ready as soon as we can travel .

Great to read that so many have camino plans and seem hopeful to be able to realize them this year. I´m still worried about the covid-19 situation and that it might be to many restrictions. But let´s hope the vaccin really stops the pandemic and we can get back to normal life and social interaction.

WooHoo! We're looking at the Portuguese from Porto beginning mid-September. We walked the CF Sept/Oct 2018 and it was incredible. We don't have quite so much time this go-round, and the Portuguese looks amazing. Maybe we'll see you in the Way! (And, I completely agree about mask requirements and the social portion of the experience).

Am tentively looking at Lisbon to Porto from mid-June (12th-25th) - I did Porto to Santiago in 2018. Portugal is accepting Brits from today and is on the UK Green List for travel. I'll have had both vaccine jabs by then and will be required to take 3 Covid tests (1 PCR before leaving the UK, one Antigen test before leaving Portugal, and another PCR on Day 2 back in the UK). Looks like there will be fewer accommodation options (and flights are fewer and way up in price) and the social aspect of the Camino may well be limited - although that would be true from Lisbon anyway, and having walked the Camino de Madrid last year (or most of it) that's something I've accepted/am used to. But TBH I've got very itchy feet. I'm hoping Spain opens up in June/July/August - and if so, I'll be looking to complete the Madrid (plus Salvador & Primitivo) and the Norte over the summer/early Autumn. Safe walking everyone.

Hi Peter, I too will start in Lisbon mid October my start date is flexible. I’ve walked other caminos. Taking 6 months to walk where the Camino takes me. Happy to have another pilgrim at least within sight. Keep in touch!

Good choice of date. September can still be brutally hot in the Tejo valley north of Lisbon, but October is usually just right!
