I am far away and almostall but lost in the study of illustrated medeival manuscripts. No. my schoolboy Latin is no where near sufficient, usefull at times but usually sadly lacking but with dictionaries and friends on the internet I am improving. Reading now the Beatus of de Liébana- Commentary on the Apocalypse, the Morgan Library facimile. Steady lad, Camino remember?
There is indeed a Liébana Camino! It splits from the Camino Norte at San Vicente de la Barquera heading south alongside and partially through the Picos de Europa, from Liébana it is possible to walk the Ruta Castellana to to join the Camino Francés at Carrión de los Condes or the Ruta Vadiniense joining at Mansilla de las Mulas.
Has anyone walked this Camino. It seems intriguing even without my studies h-o-w-e-v-e-r the Picos de Europa are perhaps a bit overwhelming for these old bones. Need some first hand information, a witness, someone who has walked there.
Should I have piqued the imagination of anyone the website for this Camino/Ruta may be found here includes albergues maps and pictures:

PS The Beatus of de Liébana is an 8th century illustrated manuscript written in Cantabria. The illustrations are so beautiful that one often must stop reading to admire. And no, I am not going monk, mentally ducking down and exploring new alleys at my age are very successful agents proven effective against the evil eye of old age!

It's a wonderful camino, Scruffy. I hiked the route in 2011 sleeping out on porches and also in albergues. In Potes, not far from Santo Toribio there was a 'Beatus' exhibition in the Torre del Infantado...

Scruffy, I think you will get better replies if you rename (or get help from a moderator to rename) this thread to Has anyone walked the Liébana Camino? Maybe also if you move the thread out of the "Camino France" topic group.
