Time of past OR future Camino
Sarria to Santiago de Compostela (2017)
Hi all, I will be starting the Camino very soon from Sarria to Santiago and I am just wondering will there be plugs beside every bed in the Albergue to charge my phone? I would be concerned about traveling without a charged phone! Thanks in advance for the responses!

Most new albergues are well equipped with electrical outlets. Older ones, not so much. That said, you will always find a place to charge your phone. Don't expect to find a wall outlet beside your bed. You might have one, but if you don't expect it, you won't be disappointed!

Some albergues do have one outlet for every bed, others (the most) don't.

One of the best tips I've read is to carry a double or triple charger so you can share it and increase your chances to plug your devices.

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

Another tip is to bring an extra long - 3 meter cord. I can remember only one or two albergues where I wasn't able to have my phone right at my bed with my long cord. I also bring a charger with 2 or 3 usb outlets.

Hi! For U.S. Pilgrims I prefer to bring a Tri-plex 110 volt adapter, a.k.a. triple adapter plug, connected to my adapter plug that allows a U.S. 2-prong plug to fit the European outlet. Then, two other U.S. Pilgrims can plug their USB voltage converters, a.k.a. chargers, into my Tri-plex adapter. If you use a charger with two, or three, USB outlets that charger may not have sufficient capacity to charge all 2 or 3 devices, especially if someone is charging a laptop or IPad.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
usb battery chargers are very handy. Sometimes you can plug the battery into the wall and into the phone. This is especially good if charging at night ( it takes ages this way). Both items will be charged in the morn. Test first of course
