Anyone remember a good shop to buy poles or a walking stick before we head over the Pass? We will be starting in Aigle. Don't plan to pack poles due to TSA.

There is a sports shop, Cristal Sports in Orsières. It is one of the places that can supply snowshoes to rent for people walking in the snowy months. It was closed when I passed on a Saturday evening (but I had not planning to go), but I presume they would have poles.

Martigny is a significant town and presumably would have a sports shop also.
PS if you hire shoes there you send them back with the post van when you get to Italy!
I dont remember any shops like that but do consider time of day and which days you might arrive in these larger towns to ensure the shops will be open .
