El nuncio apostólico leyó el decreto al término de los actos religiosos de apertura de la Puerta Santa
Thank you ,Ivar ,for setting up the live link to the opening of the holy door , the mass
never really cared about Holy Years, although I am a Traditional Catholic never the less it is what it is. Hopefully, the Cov vaccine will make Caminos possible again. Happy New Year everyone.
The Feast is celebrated every year (though I believe 2020 was a bit muted), and it's one of the days in the year when you can gain the plenary indulgence by praying at the tomb of the Apostle, whether it's a Holy Year or not.Does that mean a celebration of St. James’s feast day next summer and 2022?

I tried to work out, yesterday, if that was the Prime Minister or the King who was seated by himself, near the front, on a special-looking red chair. Can you help, Ivar?We will know more about that when we get closer to the date I think... but normally they would attend.
How annoying having a two year holy year. Now I have to start planning for 2022 also. Seriously, great news. Watched the whole ceremony yesterday, BTW thanks for the link Ivar, but never picked up on that. Love pope Francis but he has just gone up in the 'my favourite pope' chart. Never though anyone could knock JP2 of the top but big Franny has just done that. Happy new year everyone and buen camino. See you all on the trail in my minds eyeSuch good news to start the Holy Year.
I don't speak Spanish, but I figured as much when the Papal Nuncio spoke at the end of mass. He'd already given his greetings and blessings from "Papa Francisco," so what was this? Between his expression and the spontaneous, enthusiastic and sustained applause at the end from everyone, including the archbishop, I figured that had to be the case.
Sadly I can't seem to get the video to play.Thank you ,Ivar ,for setting up the live link to the opening of the holy door , the mass
and the wonderful concert of Galician music to finish off. What a spectacular programme!! Bravo TV Galicia.
Thanks to everyone involved in the renovation of the Cathedral .I was able to watch the programme on the restoration which was broadcast on Tuesday night.Such a magnificent transformation.
Happy New Year to everyone on this forum.Looking forward to 2021 and many more caminos.
Yes, it means that the Holy Door of the Santiago Cathedral will stay open until 31 December 2022 and that many of the events surrounding the Holy Year or planned in this context will be spread over two years instead of one year. The Santiago Holy Door wasn't bricked up, not even symbolically, it was just locked. I assume that this will not change. So, does that mean The door stays open, and is bricked up 31st Dec. 2022, not 2021?
