Hi, I have walked the Camino Frances and planning to do the central Portuguese route in a few weeks. Last time I bought my poles in Saint Jean instead of bringing them from the US. Is there a place in Porto I can buy poles? Any other advice for walking from Porto to Santiago in April? Thanks!

Yes, Decathlon, there are two stores in Porto. Bought mine from them last May, at that time they sold poles individually, not as a pair.

Hi
I don't know if this will help you but I walked the Costal Camino from Porto in April and appreciate things might be different inland. This was without doubt the wettest of my Caminos but this may have been due to the storms that came in off the Atlantic and they were of biblical proportions. However on the good days it was a beautiful walk there just seemed to be no halfway house. It is a different experience from the Frances but just as special in it's own way.
Buen Camino

Before heading to Decathlon, ask at your albergue/hostal if they have any in the lost and found.

Would the Cathedral have any that might have been donated by a perigrino?

Very, very doubtful. Hard to imagine anyone ENDING their trek in Porto and then leaving their poles, plus the Cathedral is a major tourist stop and not that into the Camino Santiago spirit (you can get free entry though and a stamp!). A pair at Decathlon start at 20€ or so.

My wife and I hopped over to Decathalon and got poles super cheap that worked just fine. We expected to pitch them when we were done, but liked them so much we brought them home and still use them.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
