I fly to Porto on Wed 3rd May and walk to Fatima, I will try avoid the crowds of the 100 yrs anniversary pilgrimage celebrations though as I prefer to be alone. I will visit other Monasteries and Nazare. I fly out of Lisbon on the 18th. Last year I walked 2 weeks on the Coastal Littoral Porto to Santiago with a diversion for the Espiritual. All of that 2 weeks were magical. My meeting with Aurelio and his wife in Lisbon indicated to me the true spirit of the Portugese Pilgrim. Una

The days you are walking to fatima it will impossible to avoid the crowds.
It's the perfect storm: The century celebration, the visit of pope, the fact that the pope will only visit Fatima, the canonization of the Shepards of Fátima. Be prepared for 500.000 pilgrims in Fátima. Bom caminho.

I'm walking from Porto to Santiago in October. Any thoughts on whether the coastal or main Camino from Porto to Santiago will be more crowded because of the Fatima celebration?

I don't think you will have problems with the crowds on the Costal way to Santiago.
