CF March/April 2015 - SJPdP to Santiago
Cam. Finisterre/Muxia August 2016
Cam. Fatima - Oct 2017
2 years ago on this day I arrived in Santiago - my first camino from SJPdP - the most amazing experience of my life that has continued to live with me everyday since then. I also returned a year later to finish what I and another Pilgrim that I met during my first camino didn't at the time have a chance to do go from Santiago to Finisterre/Muxia. Anyways the urge is great again to return except this time i'm feeling a Pilgrimmage to Fatima is what I need to do. So any information on this route would be appreciated. Is it well marked? About how many days would it take, i did the CF in 30 days from SjPdP to Santiago, I will only have a few weeks to walk this time. Will there be many pilgrims on the route in Sept/Oct time or would I find most going in the opposite direction to Santiago. I imagine most going to Fatima go from Lisbon to Fatima rather than coming from Santiago or from Porto to Fatima? I just thought I may want to do a longer pilgrimmage than just the 5 days or so it would take from Lisbon thats why i was thinking starting in Porto... Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thank you.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
I am walking from Lisbon to Santiago de Compostella at the moment. There are many pilgrims walking to Fatima and the way is well marked. I am just the Lisbon side of Porto, so can't say what it will be like after that.

Olá,

as Cheryl Patricia said, do it from Lisboa to Fatima. All arrows are pointing to Fatima and later to Santiago. From Santiago backwards ? Possible, but not easy - because you have always to look back for not missing an arrow!!

In Fatima I always stay in Casa do Verbo Divino (Steyler missionaries) , Internet. Only 10 min to the sanctuary.

Thanks Cheryl - did u mean there are many pilgrims walking from Lisbon to Fatima or are you seeing pilgrims walking the opposite way coming from Santiago or Porto to Fatima? I was thinking of starting in Porto and walking to Fatima. Bom Caminho!

Wondering if anyone can provide me with some thoughts on what the walk from Santiago to Porto is like compared with the walk from Porto to Fatima. Looks like approximately 10 days walking from Santiago to Porto and another 8 days from Porto to Fatima. I'm looking into if I'll have enough time for the entire Santiago to Fatima route if not i'll do Porto to Fatima and I'm just curious which part do people enjoy more, is one section more mountain climbing, or one considered more beautiful or one section have towns/cities people enjoy more than others.

Just follow your hart :) both ways are nice.

Thank you Rodrigo, I trust they are both very nice:)! My only decision now is whether to plan my trip so that I arrive in Fatima on the centennial of Oct 13th or pick another week as I'm unsure if I will have difficulties finding places to stay with the amount of pilgrims that I anticipate would be walking to Fatima at that time also....

One week from tomorrow, October 5th and I'll be on my way! Porto to Fatima am very much looking forward to it. I'll be in Fatima for the Oct. 13th centennial celebration which I imagine will be quite the experience! Wondering if there will be many others starting from Porto on that day heading to Fatima instead of what seems to be very popular these days Porto to Santiago....

Hi Mady,
My camino de Fatima from Porto to Fatima was an amazing trip. I was hesitant about going when i did because it was the centennial celebration and i wasn't sure what to expect but i am so glad i felt called to go at that time as it was truly something special that i will never forget. Yes the path from Porto to Fatima is well marked for the most part, there were a few spots that I did get a little lost but was always able to find my way back to the path and find the markings. It does start off with a lot of pavement walking for the first few days from Porto but as the days went on there were some beautiful natural paths. If you'd like to know more about my trip i kept a blog so take a look if you'd like:

just click on the links on the right hand side to read about my days on my trip.
