portugal camino more wild?

hi, i'm on the camino frances as we speak and after it would like to do a road more wild....is this one more in the woods?

No, much of it was on VERY narrow winding busy roads - wild yes! But not in the way you think :lol:

It was, however, a beautiful Camino!

Annie's right about the roads -- I just walked from Lisbon to Porto and I'd say 80% at least is on pavement. Usually not busy roads, but "wild" is not what I'd call it.

If you're looking for something less traveled and off-road, try the Camino del Salvador (4 or 5 days from Leon to Oviedo), followed by the Camino Primitivo from Oviedo to Santiago. You can find posts on these routes in other sections of the Forum. I walked this route last September/October and it is pretty remote and has spectacular scenery.

Im was thinking about walking the camino Portuguese or Primitivo in june. I wonder if I saw a comment from you on a blog called followthearrows with Kat Davis ?? (forgive me if Im totally wrong!) I can't find it now, but it described well some sleeping places and the walking in camino Primitivo. I have looked into your blog under Camino Vadiniense for camino primitvo directions , but maybe Im in the wrong place ? Greetings Jorunn

So we missed you in Porto last week Laurie. Nel and I were there for some days after finishing the Portuguese caminho .
We ate pasteís de nata and thought of you . What a pity.

And I thought of you when I was in a very nice Turismo de Habitacao up in the Douro a few weeks ago and saw a yellow arrow right outside the entrance. (Look at the grey pole). It's on the stage between Peso da Régua and Vila Real, I think, on the Interior route. Since you're the Portugues champion, have you considered that Caminho? Bom caminho, Laurie

Yes Laurie. We are happy to know you liked our blog. I am studying on the interior caminho for the next caminho.
The real plans we have know is to be hospitaleiro at Fernanda's for 2 weeks and we will rent an appartment in the Viana do Castelo area to "experience" the relaxed Portuguese life once more for a longer time.
It is remarkable to see the difference now here in Holland with all the stress (we are pensionado's but even then ) all the must do's, the living with all the appointments, obligations etc. It looks like the Portuguese do not suffer about it and "tomorrow is an other day". I still can't get used to the idea that our last caminho is history now. Fortunately I have to edit 6 hours of recorded video captures and hundreds of pictures. And have another year to improve my Portuguese language skills.

Hi Laurie must have been tempting to follow that arrow, if I ever see one where ever I am its like a magnet is switched on which starts pulling me in that direction.

the frances is much more wild than the portuguese, and has more woods, at least the spanish sections

It's a bit different from the CF with less open spaces in my opinion, but beautiful just the same.

Take your safety jaquets with you. Weigh allmost nothing
Pictures taken on the camino Ingles last year.
This year we hardly used them on the Portugues except from São Pedro de Rates to Pedra Furada and on to Barcelos. Later rarely on some tracks on the coastal route more north.

We did safely Angelo ! It was last year and we proved it by seeing you in person several times on this year's caminho

Great! By the way, I still can't over that refreshing German beer one scorching day on the Caminho when I walked into that makeshift bar with that big crowd of German pilgrims on a guided walk. The photo you posted earlier captured the moment nicely
I didn't have a safety vest but I stuck Reflector tapes on my back pack for the benefit of the drivers on the CP ( and I felt safe knowing I was visible to them somehow)

We stayed earlier there in 2013. The owner worked most time of his life in Germany and being retired likes the camino and being a host with his makeshift restaurant. Nice place to stay for a rest.

Did you stay at a place for a beer and pimientos de Padrón a little bit further on , I think between Pontevedra and Caldas de Reis ? Is was a bit shabby place with some sculptures and lots of scallops on the wall with wishes written on from passing peregrino's .it was something like the German's places.

A safety jacket costs 2 to 3€ at a petrol station or poundstretcher shop.

I remember that place you refer to. I went in there hoping to have a snack but it was full of people both locals and pilgrims alike so I decided to walk on. Well my decision wasn't right because i didn't find another cafe/bar for a fair distance.
Yeah we have those hi-vis vests in the hardware and sports shops but I didn't have time to get one before I left for Portugal.
For my next Camino i will keep one in the backpack.

The "Casa das Torres" is on the Camino Torres, Salamanca to Ponte de Lima and Santiago.
