South Africans and Australians are still not allowed to fly into Portugal.

Please update this thread if this changes. Many thanks!

Our postponed (from Jun 2020) flight leaves Johannesburg for Lisbon on 23 April. Will we be on it?

Our travel agent says we are allowed to transit, so we could get a connecting flight into Spain.

We already have a flight (bought with TAP vouchers from 2020) to Bilbao 24 hours later.

Are we allowed to transit in Lisbon airport for 24 hours?

Just curious if anyone knows! We will have to buy new flights if not.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

I just read on another forum that an Australian, Lindsay53, had successfully entered Portugal via Lisbon with absolutely no problems, albeit it took her 2 hours to get out of the airport. https://www.caminodesantiago.me/com...ith-australians-and-covid.72953/#post-1009926

This is correct Jill. Only minor thing was the large crowd and limited number of officers meant a long delay for HIM😊 to clear customs. Dont know if it would be the same for South Africans but it does seem the various websites are overly negative.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Morning all.
Spoke to Embassy in Windhoek yesterday.
Namibians are still not allowed into Portugal.
Our tickets are to Porto, but flights have not resumed.
Flights to Lisbon have started in October last year, but with very very strict criteria - only essential travel.
We were supposed to fly out in April before Covid 😒

Thanks, so glad you have arrived!
Unfortunately, we are flying via Luanda (Angola), not via London or other European country, so we are not allowed in, like the Namibians, but we CAN transit, so we may have to do that, and buy connecting flights into Spain.

The Portuguese entry restrictions, as formulated in their laws and on their websites, and as described by their consulates and in global airline guidelines, and the actual practice upon arrival at Lisbon airport are puzzling to us online commentators.

For what it is worth, the relevant Portuguese decree was amended a few days ago and the text on VisitPortugal was modified accordingly: Angola has now joined the line that includes the USA, UK and Canada from where non-essential travel is allowed. The whole line now says:

Brazil, Canada, USA, UK, Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique and São Tomé and Príncipe
Beforehand, it was only Brazil, USA and UK; then Canada was added; and now these five African countries.
