I am wondering if people are taking alternatives to the CF so we'll see more traffic that is spread out?
I noticed that as well as the usual mix of Northern Europeans on the CP, there were lot of Portuguese pilgrims collecting compostelas in the past couple of weeks, more than I remember from previous years. And last weekend with the Portuguese holiday, lots of Portuguese cyclists too, typically cycling up from Porto over two days, both by the central and coastal ways.

The Camino Ingles too, seems more popular than ever.

I haven't looked at or compared statistics from previous years, these are just my own general observations.

Certainly the caminho is far more obvious to the average Portuguese, now that so many muncipalities are upgrading the signage and putting information maps on their streets explaining the route, often in a historical context.

My impression has been that previously, many Portuguese had almost no idea the caminho existed. Fatima was so emphasized, as a pilgrimage for devout Portuguese.

And the Fatima pilgrimage experience is so different; generally large groups walking together; not really a contemplative act in the same way that the caminho seems to be, for many.

I would like to walk the river route in Tui next month. I can see on google maps exactly where it starts, but it seems a bit overgrown. Has anybody used this route this year or last year...
Hello, my friend of 50+ years and I are on our first Camino walk. We are looking for: 1) safe, comfortable hostels in Lisbon; 2) stages from Lisbon to Porto (via Tomar) in about 16 days...
Hi I have searched everywhere to see if there is a luggage service from Lisbon to Porto. I know there is from Porto to Santiago, but Lisbon ???. Thanks for any info.
