Thought this might be interesting... Artistic doesn't have to mean perfect...just creatively made. Here are a few I've seen.

I walked the Le Puy as far as Auvillar. Is your photo possibly from Conques?

Many spanish towns on the Frances have some sort of artistic designed shells in the middle of the road or in roundabouts, e.g. Burgos, Leon and Astorga. This one is from Santo Domingo de la Calzada:

Yes I did end up seeing them throughout Logroño. I still like the design though.

So here are Les Coquilles de France, first the ones before Le Puy:

Not really nice...: the owner who ran the Gite d'Etape where I stayed north of Dijon was a smoker:


Near the village Chaume at the Loire river, on the Camino from Cluny to Le Puy the way is marked with scallop shells:


In the restaurant "Halte des Pélérins" shells could be painted or signed, they were later used as decoration:


In the Gite d'Etape in Marols, I found this soap dish:

When we passed through Villa Montes de Oca, the church was being repaired and the shell was in the vestry. Nice to see it back where it belongs. We wanted to see the shell as it came from the Philippines, and we had lived there for a while.
