Hi Peregrinos.

I just want to enquire if there are any guidelines for the financial means that UK peregrinos need to evidence when they enter Spain.

(I have seen a general guideline that Spanish Authorities require evidence of £85 per day, which seems excessive for the Camino!- and which would make for a significant 40 day sum!!)

I’m asking more on behalf of my adult student son.

Thanks for any help.

??? American here...when I got off the plane and went through passport control, the only thing they wanted was my passport. I don't believe there will be any kind of issue on this topic

There has been extensive discussion about this recently. Someone might be gracious enough to do the search for you and post a link that will lead you do it directly. I would, but sleep is calling here in Oz right now.

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.

Yes and no.

There is a requirement for entrants into various countries to demonstrate that they have sufficient funds to support themselves for the duration of their visit.

In practice the application of this seems to be reserved for the minority whom the immigration folks wish to deny entry and have exhausted all the possible alternatives.

It’s not a concern.

Many thanks Henry.

Here you go. I've saved you the bother of looking it up yourself: https://www.exteriores.gob.es/Consu...regardless,its equivalent in foreign currency.

And following on from what others have already commented above unless your adult son is intending to arrive in Spain in an unsafe inflatable boat somewhere on the Mediterranean costas unlikely to be tested or required.

Here is a thread with almost 100 posts related to the subject.

If someone looks indigent, they might be questioned at immigration to Spain (or other countries) on their ability to support themselves and get themselves back home. Generally I would advise someone having a credit card with access to reasonable funds. (Seems like a good idea anyway, aside from what the Spain immigration people might expect.)

I have never been questioned about my financial resources.

Thank you Tinca. It’s the experience of the practical application of the regs that I am interested in- and you have answered that.

Brilliant C thanks.

I’d consider this thread fulfilled now and happy for it to be closed. (In fairness I did try searches using “funds” and “Brexit” but could see nothing useful.)
