In my four Caminos at Christmas, always the French, I have been from alone to very well accompanied by a good celebration. I never had problems finding accommodation. Just be very careful in preparing each stage to end up in a place with an open Albergue.

MANY ALBERGUES THAT ARE OPEN ALL YEAR INCLUDED WINTER, ARE CLOSED AT NOCHEBUENA Y NOCHEVIEJA!!!!!!!! BE CAREFUL!!!!!

Hi Mikel
Sounds so wonderful!
Have you a plan for where you will stop for Christmas Eve. Although it would be wonderful to walk over this period I don’t think I would like to be alone that evening.
Buen Camino

Mikel Love your posts I’m planning to do the Primitivo starting March 5th and am wondering if it is a good idea. By the looks of your posts it looks doable if I can handle the mud. I think that’s not a problem as I did the Portuguese route last March and it rained everyday. My concerns would be snow or very cold weather. I would love your opinion or any advise you can give me. Thanks and Buen Camino, Joe

Hi Joe, I would like to answer you in spanish, for me is easier explain my experencies.

Gracias, I will do my best to try to understand. It will be good for me to learn some.

Hi, Joe.

Mikel,
Thank you very much for your help. I was able to translate your post through Google translate. You were very informative as I expected. I was thinking pretty much the same as what you wrote. I do have some winter hiking experience here in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Maybe I might do something else if weather doesn’t look good. Only because I might be alone the whole time (I do like meeting people) and I have a hard time with the language. Also age is a little factor I’m 72 but don’t want that standing between me and doing a Camino. Sometime I will take Spanish lessons at night school here probably if the fall. So future Caminos will be better. Again thank you and maybe someday we’ll meet on the Way. Buen Camino, Joe
