Primitivo or Francés in 2010?

Hi everybody,
Need some advice for next year since I can't make my mind up. This September I did St Jean-Santo Domingo and had decided to go back in May to walk St Domingo-Santiago, but I'm starting to have doubts about it...considering the Holy Year and the expected masification on the Francés, may be I should do the Primitivo instead, Oviedo-Santiago (in June when the weather is better). What is worrying me is the difficulty of the Primitivo, would I be able to do it? I did St Jean-Roncevalles in one day without any problems, does that mean I am fit enough for the mountains of the Primitivo or couldn't you compare like this? Also, I will go alone, that was not a problem on the Francés, do you see women on their own also on the Primitivo or would you advice against it? I suppose even the Primitivo will see more pilmgrims next year, and I heard it is really very beautiful. I think I'd like to go....

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!

Do the Primitivo. Make sure you´re in good shape when you begin, and then just do it. THe mountains are spectacular, you´re as safe as you´ve ever been in Spain (but use common sense of course), and you will meet other pilgrims for company, I´m sure, esp. if you start in June. I am planning to walk it myself in the Spring, alone!

Thank you Rebakah, I'm happy to hear there are other women considering this route. I think I can have at least 15 days just for walking so I could enjoy the mountains without hurry.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Hi, I almost walked the Norte/Primitivo alone earlier this year and only chickened out at the last minute due to money and boot problems (I was actually in Spain!). I very much hope to do it next year!!
I will almost certainly be a woman walking alone as I find it pretty hard to convince anyone that walking hundreds of kms is "fun". I say go for it! :D

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Pepa,

I walked the Primitivo in September 2009, the mountains are not difficult.. it is a very gradual walk.. if you can walk from St. Jean to Roncesvalles, you will have no problem with the Primitivo.. the scenery is spectacular, the local people are wonderful and it is very safe..

Enjoy!!!

Paul.
