Hello Every One,
was there a recent Private Accommodations list circulating not long ago for the Frances somewhere on this Forum , or did I dream? Any personal list or recommendations would be deeply appreciated (have only found years old info). Starting in 10 days - Winter walking
Thank You.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
I think the list in the Resources Section has private as well as Municipal Albergues.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

Hi Gipsy Moon
Go to Camino Resources.

This may be what you're looking for. I am starting in Burgos on March 23. Would love to hear how things go for you. I hadn't thought about albergues still being closed. Also curious about the weather whilst you're there.

Thanks a lot NTange :) found it!
Last year I walked the Camino Frances in March too (was in Burgos the 1st of April), sleeping in Albergues and sometimes private rooms. The only place I remember having trouble with several accommodation still being closed was Sahagun. Ended up in at Hostel La Bastille, in front of Municipal Albergue - both open. Apart from that, accommodation were always plenty.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
The link works for me. You may wish to check your browser settings or try an alternative browser. Or simply follow @Gipsy Moon 's advice above which will take you to the relevant threads.

As you are walking this early in the year I advise you to check via the usual web resources and / or by telephone whether individual establishments are open. Many small hostals, hotels and casas rurale may well be closed until Easter. You will find the current and frequently updated list of Albergues open in winter in the same page of the forum.

Happy planning

Thanks Gipsy Moon, I was starting to get a bit worried. I am however looking forward to a 'quieter' walk.
How was the weather for you at that time?

Very much so NTange :D

Weather was quite mild mid March as I a started from the Mediterranean - Camino del Ebro in Cataluna. I reached the CF end of March (Easter 2016) in Logrono, several beautiful sunny days, as well as regular rain. I remember waking up early one morning in Belorado, looking at the window... still dark, rain, lightening everywhere, streets white with snow... but the walk up the hills and through the forest before San Juan de Ortega was absolutely majestuous and not that cold.

Often in the morning i wasn't able to use my walking sticks for the first 2 hours, keeping my hand folded in the jumper sleeves as i would start before sunrise and had no gloves ... will definitely remember to take some this year, as well as thick rain jacket, waterproof pants, and poncho.

By mid morning and during the day, temperatures were generally quite nice while walking.

For the night, i always made sure there was some kind of heater in the room, albergue or private room, often using up to 3 blankets as there were plenty available.

If i remember well, the snow, freshness from far away mountains, was felt until Cruz del Ferro. (Another magical moment when snow flakes started to suddenly dance around while reaching the cross).

From there, mid April by then, temperatures were milder. Still rain... may be 60-70% of the total way?... but not all day long. The trick for me was to make sure i kept as protected as possible from being completely soaked, and really start the day dry (clothes & shoes). Meaning good gear. Merinos layers and Gortex shoes.

Hope it helps!
Happy walking :)
